New owner - first Rolex

Hi all,

Thought I'd pop a post up to say hi - couple of days ago I finally took the plunge and bought myself a present for a big birthday. Took longer than I thought since my birthday was last year though!

Got myself a DJ-II with a white dial. I tried on quite a few (handy having Watchfinder's shop in the Royal Exchange a few minutes from the office, they have plenty of most models to pore over and slip on the wrist!) but decided to go with a new one in the end as the price difference wasn't that much, and a 5y warranty and the fact that it's all shiny and new meant it was worth it. So, the nearby Mappin and Webb it was - and a week later, after trying on most of their stock to see my preferred dial, I still liked the white one best, I got that thrilling phone call to say 'sir, pleased to say your watch has come in...'

Pic here, if I've done this right... It's so new in the photo that I hadn't even peeled all the protective plastic wrappers off it!

How long is it likely to be before I stop staring at it???

Huge congrats on your first Rolex! That's a smart looking Datejust and a style that doesn't shows up very often on here. Enjoy it in the best of health.

12.4 years.

Congratulations. I have always liked the look of the white dial on the DJ II. I prefer the fluted bezel but both look great.

Congrats and happy belated birthday!

I'm almost 10 years into Rolex ownership (different watches in that timeframe) and I still find myself checking the time, getting distracted my the beauty of my watch and forgetting what time it was. Hopefully that never stops.

Congrats on your first Rolex! You made a good choice, that is a great watch for any occasion.

And you'll never stop looking at it, if you're anything like me.
