228236 Rolex Platinum Day-Date Ice blue dial Roman numerals and fluted bezel

I was visiting Venice and unexpectedly saw the authorized Rolex store Salvatori Boutique. Walked in without much expectations, and boom, saw a 228236 Platinum Day-Date bluesy dial, Roman numerals! I wanted this one badly, but could not stack up enough credit cards to get to the sticker price of 60K Euro...

Too bad I was only there for two days.

There's a hefty tax but i would get it returned upon leaving the EU back to the US.

Missed opportunity or is this one not as popular as other models?

You should be able to go online and bank wire from your bank account if you have enough money in it. If you don't have enough money in your bank account, you should not buy it.

They said international bank wire would take at least 24 hours to clear, plus there are time zone differences. Regardless, this watch was a beauty!

An AD in Venice? Wow…I’m in Palm Beach and they basically wouldn’t even look at me even though I have bought at Bucherer and was wearing a plat DD 40 myself. They told no platinum pieces for anyone bec they maybe get 1-2 per year and no shot at green dial YYg either. Of course a grey dealer down the street had everything and were actually super nice.

Venice is so nice. I went to that boutique when we were last there. I found them to be friendly, although they didn’t have much to look at

I was there actually 5 days ago with the family and didn't bother to go in and look, I figured they won't have anything available. They did have some nice pieces sitting at the window though.

Why wouldn’t you have a boutique in Venice (Italy)? Plenty of money around those parts. Obviously I can’t vouch for Venice USA.
Watch sounds amazing

Given they had it for sale, not many buyers at the top.

If you was expecting to get the 21% tax back via Global Blue then your inability to pay probably saved you from thousands in losses.

I predict you’ll be able to get that watch below retail here in the US soon. Give it another 6-12 months

I’m not surprised that there is an AD in Venice but was told in the states that platinum pieces come maybe once or twice a year so I am surprised that an AD in Italy just has one for sale as opposed to the hoops you have to jump through here.

do not put a watch purchase on credit, unless you're able to pay it off right away.

Would definitely pay it off right away, and next time, I probably need an AMEX card for these situations. AMEX is no limit, correct?

They do have a limit although usually higher than a normal credit card because Amex is a charge card. The spending threshold is obviously based on the individual.
