Trade a 2018 sub date for a Blancpain FF blue face

My sub is a 2018 also worn 10-12 times...I have not wore it in over a year....I love the looks of the blue Blancpain......would you trade>

If you're not wearing the Sub then go for it. I like the 42mm. Tried it on recently and fits very much like the Sub

The ti FF is a grail watch but, honestly, the service costs scare me. $1500 every 5 years per the Blancpain SA I spoke with in Geneva.

If you really love the blue Blancpain Fifty Fathoms, it might be worth trading your Submariner for it. Just think about whether you’d miss the stainless steel bracelet and how much you’d wear the Blancpain.

yes ive heard that also....im trying to find a local who will work on the FF .....Rolex repair is easy to find and semi expensive......1500 for a non chrono watch is a little too much for me.....plus 3-4 month wait time?

You know it’s 45mm right Barbara? Short lugs but it’s still a big watch. I think they are close in value although I think the Rolex would still draw more on the secondary market. I think OC had or has a blue FF in mint condition and under warranty for a hair under 10k

Yeah i know but im 5 ft 10......a tall lanky MN farm girl....i can wear mens watches cause when i dress up im pushing 6 ft....taller than my ex who was 5 ft 9.....its a blessing and a curse.
I use to smoke cigars too R and J robusto....i would get some looks smoking cigars....but i only smoke now a few times a year....with a dirty martini....cant be beat

50 Fathom USA service: $750. I have had mine >10yrs, never serviced, worn in rotation with other watches and still runs +1sec/day.

Yeah I email Blancpain .....just a little more than a Rolex....maybe it was a older model he had but 750-800 I can live with that.

Beautiful watch, was just looking, 45mm, would look fine on you given your height.

I'm 6'4" and the Panerai 510 at 45mm was perfect, the Panerai 422 at 47mm I thought was pushing it a tad for my comfort zone.

But great looking watch, and is that a quasi "bakelite" bezel? Bezel really does it for me, and the blue? Now you've got me pondering swapping out my 2008 11613lb Submariner for this....

I would not do it myself.
I had a FF and when it comes down to it I just always find watches on bracelets much more comfortable but that's a personal taste thing.
I have debated the 40 mm Hodinkee FF a few times (I like the Hodinkee version as its a ND and I like ND watches these days) but I have not pulled the trigger.
I had a FF about 10 years or so ago and first it was too big for my 6.9 in wrists (wore much bigger than 45 mm to me) and I was just always worried about scratching it up while I have never worried about that with my Sub or SD.
That being said I think its a beautiful and amazing watch and if what I list as shortcomings to me don't bother you Id say do it.

Tough to let the Sub go, but the FF is one of the best looking watches ever. In fact, the FF is the one watch that started it all for me. Go for it!

I have looked at buying one multiple times but I am afraid it will be like the omega seamaster pro on my wrist, too thick and too proud. It's a gorgeous watch face but I just can't do big thick watches that ride proud on my wrist.

I have owned the FF in 45mm on the sail cloth strap and it a fine watch but it can not compare to my Rolex Submariners. The bracelet is the winner for Rolex not to mention the size, 40-41mm and the iconic looks and wear. I know the history of the FF but it is just not all that to me. Not to mention the price, even pre-owned, is way too much for what it is. I would keep the Submariner and actually start wearing it. You might find that it will feel like a new watch since you have not worn it much.

All that said, if you really like the look/color/bezel of the FF, then you will probably eventually get one- as we all know! (For me, it would be the new blue dial 42.3mm Titanium one.) I've been resisting the urge to buy one myself as I'm just not sure how much wrist time I could give it unless I moved something else out and - they are pretty pricey.
