Stolen BLNR

Hi all -

My lovely watch was stolen last night. Was removed from my wrist in a night club. Didn't even notice until I left.

I am typically very careful not to wear it in such situations, but this was right after a wedding ceremony.

Filed a police report, was told it's unfortunately a common occurrence.

Feeling devastated, and very dumb.
It's not even about the money - it's the sentimental value.

Would appreciate any help or advice from the community here.
Which databases are worth registering, etc.

Do you know for a fact someone took it from you or did a bracelet pin come loose and it fell off at the nightclub???

There is no way a GMT is going to be easily slipped off your wrist without you noticing. It can't be cut easily and with the double fliplock you would most certainly notice any attempt to remove it.

I think there must have been a loose screw, or a pin was not properly fixed in its retainer hole.

Contact Rolex to report the serial # stolen. You’ll need the police report and original paper work (warranty card or bill of sale) of ownership.

If your watch is ever sent in to RSC it will be held by Rolex. It doesn’t matter who bought after stolen, Rolex will keep it until contact with the original owner or most of the time the insurance company.

Sorry about your watch. Did you meet any new people that showed interest in you for a couple of moments only to seemingly disappear shortly after they disengaged from being interested in you? Professionals are pretty good at picking people they are able to successfully target.

I really don't understand how someone can take a watch off your wrist without you noticing it. That's unless you were under the influence of something and was not in your right frame of mind. I mean, they have to open the clasp and remove it from your wrist, and you don't feel that happening? Or maybe it's what was mentioned above that a screw came loose, and it fell off. Still, you have to be more aware of your surroundings. Good luck.

Oh man, I feel for you, so sorry your watch was stolen. You let your guard down for a wedding and after party, and then this happens. As people have said, beyond filing a police report and reporting the watch stolen to Rolex, not much more you can do. I'm glad you weren't physically harmed - lots of watch theft in the Catalan region of Spain.

He was at an after party, after a wedding . Suffice it to say, he was probably hammered. Sorry to hear about this, OP. Follow advice given here. I had my Sub Date stolen awhile back. I know exactly how you feel. I still miss it!

Too bad if true, and I see no reason to fabricate such an incident, but the story just doesn’t make sense, although we hear a lot about watch theft in Spain.

Well, if you let a total stranger touch you all over your body like a masseuse then don't be surprised if it happens. I don't let people especially in a party to put their hands all over me. These thief's always look for the weak link.

I agree with almost all of this, except two things:
1. Rolex doesn't require the original paperwork.
2. Rolex only keeps it for a limited period after alerting the original reporter.

Here is the excerpt from my most recent recovery with Rolex a couple of years ago:
"The Watch has been submitted for service and, therefore, the question of ownership must be resolved in accordance with the applicable law of that jurisdiction. If you are interested in pursuing a claim to the Watch, we encourage you to immediately contact the police department with which you filed your police report. The police department should coordinate the return of the watch with local law enforcement in ______Redacted______.

Please also consider retaining counsel to assist you with the recovery of the Watch.

Please note that our affiliate can only hold the Watch for a limited time, and if you fail to take action, the Watch may be released and the Watch's serial number may be removed from Rolex's missing watch database."


BTW Rolex does not call insurance companies. They don't know you accepted an insurance payment unless you tell them or the Insurance company follows up.

You must have been a bit under influence? Seems hard to believe it’s taking from your wrist and you don’t notice?

I had one stolen from unattended messenger bag a clients office (was to take it to RSC after the meeting)! So anything can happen.

It’s better not than party after party with a good watch.

I’m so sorry to hear this OP. Report it everywhere & anywhere pasting the serial number wherever possible. It’s unlikely you’ll see it again, but the more information out there, the better.

On a more positive note, at least you didn’t get hurt or into any physical altercations with these scumbags. Getting drunk at a wedding shouldn’t end in this way. Sad times.
