Rolex at Australian Open

I could not help noticing the prominence of the Rolex badged clocks
at the Aussie Open. On the ESPN2 broadcast here in the US, Rolex seems to
be running their "Roger Federer' ads every other break.

Yes on ESPN Star Sports in Singapore, all the Australian Open commercials are by Rolex, featuring Roger Federer. Three watches appear - the Milgauss GV, the Everose Daytona and 18k gold GMTIIc.

From memory, Rolex took over the official timing right at the Australian Open since 2009...... From Rado.

Rolex seem to be really pushing in tennis at the moment, sponsoring Federer, Henin and Ivanovic.

They are also official timekeepers of Aussie Open and Wimbledon. The French Open is sponsored by Longines of course.

As a keen amateur player myself im delighted by this.

That's a TT 36mm DateJust that Justine's got on. She wears it while playing too. Federer always waits until the match is over before he puts on his Rolex.

Correct.......but not sure about the size, could be a mid-size too.

I remember the time when the Aussie Open was timed by RADO........how I used to hate looking at the screen then!!!

It's only the last couple of years that they reverted to Rolex.

Yes, she's always got on a Rolex whilst she's playing. Haven't seen any of the other pros do that.

Roger Federer

Which rolex did Roger Federer wear at Australian Open finals? It definately had the oyster bracelet and a silver/grey dial, and there was no cyclop.

I think you are right esm, i thought it was a SS silver dial with arabic numbers but i wasn't sure what colour the numbers were. Looked good though, mind you they probably make sure he wears a new one each time he is in front of the cameras. Couldn't show him wearing a scratched one could they ! I wonder how many Rolex watches he has ! Great player !

As a Scot I'm sorry to see Murray loose, but the best man won on the day - 16 GS titles is astonishing. Murray's day will come.

These players, Justine and Roger are ROLEX ambassadors, and have a "collection" of ROLEXs, Justine usually wears a ladies Yachtmaster; Federer wears whatever he wants, usually in a white steel.

Thanks,
Randy

not sure if I have mentioned last year after I bought the GV from "the" rolex store on Bond st London (owned by watches of switzerland) in july....

Anyway, while the store manger was resizing my GV, he mentioned this was his second resizing today, his first one was a SS DJII for Roger Federer for that weekends Wimbledon final.

Yes, it was before DJII was "offically" released to the ADs in the uk.

Me thinks that was the "closest" I got near Fed so far :-)
