Off the top of my head, the beat worked against the Tru-Beat because the market wasn't ready for a Rolex without the famous sweep hand. The question is, is the market ready for it now?

Had to look up what that model was. It was a mechanical that was configured to "tick" once per second. So was like a quartz, before quartz?

With the Seiko SpringDrive having a smooth sweep, I guess Rolex could go the other way and make an automatic look like a quartz. Unless Rolex can claim that a "Tru-Beat" could keep better than a quartz, like less than a second a month, I don't see the point.

If they make a trubest movement in a 40-44MM Rolex case it will be a hit. Even 39MM Trubeat would be awesome.

I believe that it will have a bigger case. Rolex is following the trend

The Seiko Spring Drive only claims 1 second / day accuracy, which is about as good as a regulated mechanical. It's not the perfection that people keep pointing to it as, it's just a normal quartz crystal.

I think it's a good looking watch, and I do believe there is a market for all makes and models. Reminds me of the Omega Aqua Terra line.

With Rolex anything goes I suppose, but I'd have to agree with James on this one.

The tru-beat action sort of defeats Rolexes "famous" sweeping seconds movement.

I've seen one of these watch before. Its an automatic watch, but its second hand doesn't "sweep"....its ticks. What I mean is that it operates like a quartz watch, 60 ticks per minute.

I don't like the idea.If I wanted a watch that TICKS, I'd buy a $20 casio......

Just a "normal quartz crystal"? Get the latest WatchTime to ready about this. It is FAR from a what you claim it to be. Not saying it's worth the money, but it is technically impressive. I think of it as a "hybrid" watch.
