Seven Seconds: too fast?
I received my GMT back from the dealer after cleaning and parts ($814.00). I am a consistent seven seconds fast in 24 hours. Is this excessive, should I contact my Rolex dealer??

It should be a simple adjustment assuming they have a capable in-house guy. I feel +/- 3sec's a day max is about right.

7 seconds a day wouldnt bother me, as its not even a minute a week, just knock it back to compensate.

I just has a YM that was running +6 seconds a day adjusted down to ~1.5 seconds a day! I say go for it. Best $35 bucks I've ever spent.

I'm sure they could have done it right there at your AD, if they are qualified to clean and service the movement, then they should have regulated it IMO. If they were gonna charge you for at, at least pick up a phone and make a call.
They should have done it on the house if it didn't come into the shop 7 seconds fast. 7 sec fast a day would drive me crazy.

If they charged you over $800 for a service (which is more than RSC normally charges) they should have given it back to you regulated to chronometer specs which is +6 to -4 seconds a day. I'd call them and tell them now that you want to bring it in for regulation but I'd also suggest that you let it run in for perhaps a month before you take it in. They should have no problem with that IMO.

I'd send it back. It will get annoying. That's about 3 min/month!! Some months have 31 days. So you could go at least 2 months without adjusting your watch ... then realize you're at least 6 minutes ahead!! That's enough to bother me.
My watch was consistently fast at least 11+ seconds/day. While still under warranty, dealer had to send it back to Rolex and have them regulate it. It came back 3.5 weeks later with a little over .5 seconds SLOWER per day. I'm okay with that. That's like a quartz standard. |
