Life of a mainspring

How long should a mainspring last before it needs to be replaced? Considering normal use of a watch. Is there a general guide?

Every time your watch gets serviced by a reputable Rolex authorised watchmaker, they will replace the mainspring automatically. (about 7 years averagely?)
