My Dad’s DD Restored!
My dad gifted me his day-date a few years ago and I just recently got around to getting it fixed up.
The watch had a spotty service history so I sent that down to Time Care Inc. to get a full service done. I had to swap the bezel to get it to be water resistant and the dial due to paint chipping. The bracelet was stretched within hairs width of failure. I sent it down to RolliWorks to be restored. When it got down there, they told me that the bracelet was beyond conventional repair and would need to be shipped off to a third party that would put the links into a mold and pour fresh gold on top to fill in the link and give it its original size and shape. It was wild and it took a few months but the bracelet is almost brand new. Here are some before and after: |

It was about $6,000 all together with parts and labor which is quite a lot but the watch should be good to go for another 40 years with regular maintenance. |

Considering its history and it's predicted life span going forward I'd call that a bargain. Congratulations.

Looks great OP! I don't think I've ever seen a 'bark' bracelet before. Congrats and thank you for sharing.

Lovely watch with great sentimental value. Shame you couldn’t keep the original dial and bezel, as the proportion of the diamonds seemed just right, but I can totally understand you wanting to return it to a condition where you have no worries about wearing it in water etc. Definitely money well spent and it looks incredible, that bark finish is so classy.

I knew a guy in the 80s that had a DD with the bark bracelet. Didn't think much of that back then as I had a DD with a polished center links bracelet but seeing yours OP makes me realize how cool that was and is! Congratulations!!!
