The new "King" Turtle

Sapphire and ceramic. Looks like MSRP is $595 for rubber, $625 with bracelet.

Seiko and these hideous date magnifiers...I’m starting to get concerned.

It's like it has a small pair of snorkeling goggles over the day/date window...

You guys are crazy...I love these new turtles. Having a magnifier is not necessarily true to history, but I love it. Gives it a quirkinesses that I like.

They look good except for the day/date magnifier. Not a deal breaker for me, per se, but it looks weird.

I quite like the green, it's as if an aquanaut and turtle had a love child and that child was wearing glasses.

Would definitely consider and would like to see on the wrist.

I like it. I am sure the prices will settle down to around 350-400.

Not bad, however, I prefer a minimalist dial.

I saw this on YouTube and must say I am very interested, the cyclops makes it for me. My turtle is awesome but I need a monocle to read the date! I am looking for one to see in person, but think this is my next Seiko purchase

Joking aside, I like the green. I'd probably knock off the swim goggles and go with a smooth crystal. Turtles don't need goggles.

I don't like the bezel, needs to be steel. It has so much more charm and it's better looking than anything ceramic (same for the 14060 vs the SubC). Really don't get why people are so hyped up/fond about ceramic bezels. The look is so much different and when dirty ceramic doesn't look good.

I get what Seiko is doing but I'm not a fan of the changes they are making with the SKX line and this. But it is what it is.

I was a long time hater of ceramic yet now I own a 114060. At this point I've come to accept it but I definitely think it works better on some watches than others. One of the biggest things that draws me to Seiko divers is their hard-wearing, tool watch aesthetic. I guess it could be argued that ceramic actually augments their toughness, but aesthetically I don't think it works. I'm good with Seiko embracing ceramic as you move up their line in price but I think it's a mistake to start adding it at this price point. Or perhaps the world has simply changed and I'm out of touch.

Regarding the magnifier, it's interesting to see the perspectives of other posters here that like it to the point it is actually a selling point to me. For me these things stick out like a sore thumb and are just one extra thing to fall victim to the "misalignment problem." However I now have gained some additional perspective on the matter.

I have just received the new alpinist with a cyclops fitted - it seems perfectly aligned to me and makes the date wheel so easy to read at a glance - I do appreciate the help

I do feel that the "upgrades" to the alpinist justify the price hike and if I had not purchased the great white turtle last year I would definitely buy the green king turtle

Its a nice of the shelf option.

But you can mod a basic one with better ceramic insert choices and either flat or curved sapphire for about $100.

And I agree that Seiko needs to tread lightly. If their working tools creep to high, people will notice in a bad way.

If it ain't broke don't mess with it.....
That said, a full luminous bezel would have been cool.

Don't love the cyclops, but really like that shade of dark green with gold accents....not sure about the Royal Oakish square dial motif, but other dials no doubt not far behind...be good to check them out in real life
