Speck of dust or luminova on the dial

I see a speck of dust or luminova near the 9 o'clock dial. Can it spoil the movement if it passes through the date? Thanks.

I had a spec/bit of lint inside the dial of my DJ2, which I noticed after having had it for a year.

I gave it a a couple of firm taps on the dial and it dislodged and went elsewhere and I couldn’t see it, so that was that.

I don’t think it will affect your mechanism.

The important thing is that it does not affect the mechanism

I had a brass chip or filing loose on my GMT dial.

I am pretty sure it must have come through the date window already as I can't find it any longer. I believe your DJ will be fine.

I had the same issue happen to my 2008 submariner. My AD urged me to repair it promptly before it got into the date wheel causing more extensive damage. So I handed it back to them, three weeks later it came back better than new. They cleaned the dial and replaced the second hand. Easy fix.

That’s exactly why I never use a loupe on my watches!

The only time I ever loupe my watches is to verify that the laser etched Rolex logo at 6 o'clock is there.

I had something appear under the cyclops (so no loupe needed) of my GMT. It was obviously mobile since it hadn't been there before. It was right over the date window and I was concerned that it would work its way into the mechanism. I hand carried it to an RSC, they didn't question it for a moment. They took it in, and in a week I got it back with the foreign body gone. If it bothers you, get it taken care of. If not, then forget about it.

In my case, I don’t own a loupe and don’t inspect my watches that closely. It was on a summers day in direct sunlight that I noticed the lint on my dial.

I didn’t even bother taking it to Rolex once I tapped the watch and dislodged the spec.

though it's annoying to have in there, I've never seen a spec of dust cause extensive damage to a movement...

This. I’m pretty sure it’s just to get People worried and get them to spend Money on a Service they don’t really need.
