What makes a Skydweller a great watch?

I never really paid attention to it and its not spoken of much but this color combo caught my eye. For fans of this model what makes it so good? My issue with it is its so bulky.

It tells the time. If you like it go for it.

For me it movement. It's just so cool and the engineering behind the ring command bezel makes my pants tight.

I love my Sky Dweller! For me, it's so good because it's the most complicated watch that Rolex has designed. I love having multiple complications.

Not only does it tell you the time, it also displays the date, month, and a GMT function. I travel a lot so all of these functionalities are very useful for me. It's on the bigger size and I've got an average sized wrist, but I don't mind the bulkiness of it.

To me, the PM models are a bit tougher to wear just because they're heavier and too much bling for me to pull off. I tried my brother in law's RG Sky Dweller for about 2 weeks (was contemplating taking it off his hands at one point) but it was just too flashy for my simple kinda life.

I actually like it because of its bigger size. The dial is also very unique and visually distinctive.

For me it’s because of the movement. I really like complications that Sky Dweller offers. I believe that one day I would own one.

It's relatively big, thick and heavy for a Rolex but it's not particularly bulky in the grand scheme of things. I did not reach a decision on the Sky Dweller until I was able to try one on at my AD. I thought it would be too big, heavy and twinkly for me. It wasn't.

Apart from the looks, both for the quirkiness and the fact that it can easily be mistaken for a DJ, both of which appeal to me, the Sky Dweller's appeal is how simply it displays all its complications and how easy it is to adjust. It's cleverness is its simplicity.

A NYC based AD just offered me one, everrose on OF, white dial.
I was really impressed with the complexity of the watch, how the bezel has different functions. It wasn’t for me, but I can see why people like it.

I've never met a Sky Dweller I didn't love. I loved the full RG Slate one I tried on at my AD a few months ago. What I didn't love was how it looked on me. It just didn't work.

I have a black dial stainless on Oyster, but really love the rose gold with the black sunburst dial - absolutely gorgeous.

Love Rolex Everose gold. Well played sir :)

Agreed it's a bit bulkier than most Rolex timepieces, yet the SkyD is an amazing accomplishment horologically speaking. The way to adjust via the bezel and have exceptional waterproofness, second timezone, and maintain excellent legibility during the day... plus usable lume at night too.

Love many timepieces for their personality, or fun GMT colors, or.... the SkyD is straight-up durable, versatile, and what matters most, legible.

jmho

PS: Looks great on either bracelet type.

What makes the SkyD so great?
It’s got so much going for it, kinda hard to pinpoint.
I love mine because it’s unique and has the most complex Rolex movement.
Also, they are not commonplace to see in the wild.

Love the complication, I really wanted to want the watch. Tried it on, and too thick for my taste. Get it down to 12mm and it’ll be the next watch I buy

I've tried it on and like it. I agree they seem rare as I've never seen one in the wild.

large wrist and prefer the larger sized watches - love the look of it and appreciate the complications - a coworker thinks that it is the ugliest watch he's seen because of the off center ring on the dial - to each their own

I love this watch! What makes it special to me is the creative and unusual 24 hour complication. Like the Cellini moon phase, no one thinks more outside of the box than Rolex.

Alas,at 42mm, it’s just too big and thick for me, but I love this watch!

Wrist presence, complications, big dial, fluted bezel, and the gorgeous sky blue dial, a recipe for a winner, with Rolex best features rolled into one watch!! Besides, Michael likes it too!

Bridges the gap between professional and classic.
I’m not a day-date person, but I could see this one as an alternative for me.

Full of Rolex DNA with its fluted bezel and cyclops.

The trouble free most beautiful movement Rolex ever did with its complications; GMT, annual calendar and date.

The dial has much going on and has nice depth without feeling cluttered.

On the PM models this nice little feature whereby the winding crown is always upright, just because they can make it.

Due to the curvature of the case it doesn’t wear that big imo.

The weight of the PM models you just gotta love, real chunk of metal on the wrist.

What’s not to love

Don’t let anyone tell you it’s ‘bulky’ it’s not. 6.5” wrist. What do you think?

Waiting for my blue Sky-Dweller on Oyster since almost 3 years. I was never able to try it on my wrist, saw it only once out there in the wild. But with the black dial. I have a DSSD D-blue JC, so the Sky-Dweller can't be more bulky I guess ))

The asymmetric dial is what make the SkyD so interesting to look at, imho.
