Oyster Half Link Sizing Question

Quick question to ask if anyone has any experience with the oyster half links from steel-reef? I saw them mentioned on Adrian Barker’s YouTube channel and they could be the answer to getting the prefect fit for my 216570 Explorer II.

Are the links a good match against the original bracelet?

What is the difference in mm between a full and half link? E.g what will the reduction be in size. I seem to recall that half links are not actually half in size.

I have purchased a half link for my Pelagos 42mm from Uncle Seiko which matched and fitted perfectly.

Happy Christmas.

Oyster Half Link Sizing Question

Yeah I use them. I had a half link and an easy link / on the fly from Steel Reef. Good to go on quality.

Size is like 5-6 mm screw to screw.

Oyster Half Link Sizing Question

You could try and source a half link for the previous generation Submariner which came on a 20mm bracelet, I believe these fit the 216570.

The part number you'd be looking for is b32-21029-d1. Shouldn't cost more than £35-£50 from your AD, if they are happy to order for you. I ordered one for my 39mm Explorer, but also had the Submariner so they were happy to do this.

I have heard a couple of good reports on the Steel Reef options so wouldn’t hesitate to buy, though I’d try OEM first as believe this is the more cost effective option.

Definitely try it. My Sub Date was fitting “pretty good” and I was curious if removing a link, or adding a half link would get me a better fit. I was trying to figure out if 1 half link= 2 notches on the Glidelock clasp and all of that. After I added a link I was left with a sizing that I could not get from the Glidelock alone. It now fits perfect. I know you were asking about a half link, my point is try it you may really like the results. You can always go back.

I have used my Subs half link before on other models. The steel reef is intriguing but I'd have a hard time with it being aftermarket. I don't think most people would care. I am curious at their price point. More $$$ than I'd have thought.
