Imo, you could have gotten a bit deeper into the topic.

Example: negative would be the very small amount of lume on the dial

You should also mention how intensively IWC modified the 2892-2calibre. Just wind the crown or listen to the rotor noise and you are getting an idea how much work went into making this calibre an IWC movement.

What are the nature of the modifications to the ETA movement?
I agree a deployant clasp is far superior and should have been included as standard with this watch. Tang is fine, I guess.
I prefer the black dial version. What is the deal with the blue dial version?

I am wondering the same thing. Here is a photo of the same calibre (IWC 30110)

They engrave the rotor. It also says "Adjusted to 5 positions" so it seems that they also regulate the timing

The blue dial (Le Petit Prince edition) is the same price as white/black and is not limited. The caseback has an image of Le Petit Prince instead of a WWII era plane. Strap is brown with white stitching, as opposed to black with black stitching.

the blue sunburst is nice. it does lack a color-matched date wheel, which highlights the odd date placement

I don‘t have details, but if you wind up the IWC, it feels significantly smoher than a regular ETA powered watch. And as said , the rotor noise is different and much more silent and smooth.

So I assume, that IWC modifies the mainspring section and corresponding geartrain and at least the rotor bearrings.

Nice video; well done. I have the blue dial mark XVIII, and I really like the legibility, the look, the dial contrast. I'm good with the white date wheel, and the white stitching on the strap. The strap overall is great quality. The dial could use more lume, not a deal breaker. I'm not sure how much better the dial would look with the date window closer to the 3 o'clock position. Probably better, like the Mark XVI. The ETA base movement is not a big deal to me at this price point. To me, this watch was a wearable compromise for the Big Pilot, a watch I've looked at for years. I can't get over the wearability of a big watch that sits that high on the wrist; cost and re-sale being another. I've always liked IWC; this is my 3rd one (Aquatimer 2000 and 3714 being the others). This felt like to next logical step, and the negatives are minimal - date window placement and lack of lume at all the hour hash marks.

All the originally launched Mark XVIII still come with the ETA (as they did when they were launched/designed). The new editions (tribute, heritage, etc) that launched afterwards come with the Sellita.
