What does the future hold for the post 2000yr GMT 16710

Anyone feel that they have the prescience and collective past experience to predict the next 18 months for the 2000-2007 16710 GMT Pepsi or Coke? Desirability? Prices? Classic?

16710 IMO is one of the best refs rolex ever made. Post 2000 isn't necessary but will always carry a premium because of the no holes case and super luminova.

One other note about the 16710s in general is the fact most have been absolutely destroyed over time. Even on chrono24 there are countless examples that have every sharp edged completely polished away.

I agree. I was lucky to get mine NOS a few years back. Z-serial Pepsi.

Well that one of the main problems today Rolex are no longer watches to some bought to be worn and enjoyed, now some think they are nothing more than £££$$$€€€€ objects.

Sadly this is true. The "market" offers up this kind of participatory thinking by encouraging those wanting to buy watches for enjoyment to also feel that they shouldn't miss out on what they see as mounting prices and profits others are taking. I guess that not wanting to miss out is perhaps part of human nature and it's this, unfortunately, that drives greed. My question is that will increasing prices marginalise those who see watches as collectible pieces to own for enjoyment and how long before the whole nature of watch collecting changes to one of economic off the book asset collections? My prediction is that not a lot will change in the next 24 months while the sharks are still eating, pushing up prices but then what. What happens when they have had their fun, their profits? What then?

Some people buy them for investments, some for wearing, some switch from one category to the other... (or are in the two categories) --> I encourage you not to tell "it was better before"

We should see the investment tendancy as a great manner to see (or buy) untouched models in a few decades, bringing back souvenirs.

Having never sold or traded a watch I can’t comment on that Peter.

I specifically sought out a 16710 as a daily wear piece. I took into consideration that is was probably modern enough to not just be a quirky vintage piece that can be unreliable and make the wearer anxious about truly putting the watch though it’s paces daily.

My D Serial 16710 (2005-2006) is an excellent fit on my wrist and was serviced by RSC in 2016. I can truly only afford one luxury wristwatch that stays on my wrist 24/7.

For now, without any concern for “investment” potential I continue to daily wear the Pepsi. I don’t want it’s price to tank necessarily of course but I don’t expect it to go up much more than it has over the past several years.

Well….

I can’t really comment on most of those things except desirability…….always loved the GMT

Got my pair of Z 116713 and 16710(basically unworn) at the same time when ADs were fun to shop at in 2006
My daily K 16710 on jubilee
16750 8.2 serial
And finally my 1675

Still have them all and are priceless to me

I’m not really into internet hype so can’t comment on that….as for future value, the cartel will determine that

Buy them all! Mortgage your home! Take out business loans, buy every one even if it's overpriced! Because in 18 months it will be 10x the value!

What a silly ass post. You drop these questions with no observable effort on your part.

What do you think?
What research have you done?
Why are you asking?
Why the next 18 months?
What is “classic?”
Do to own one, have you always wanted one, what do you enjoy about them?

100%

I was asking myself all these questions after reading post #3 and decided neither to post nor to upload a photo of my 16710.

Another useless thread and zero-content copy/paste posts (#6) out of many here.

I forgot to say.,,, I wear the hell out of mine. I like my sharp lugs, but only cause I like to look at them. That watch is part of the “permanent” collection.

My prediction is that nothing significant will happen over the next 18 months. Maybe a small creep upward in prices, just as it has been doing over the last decade.

My 16710 is my one and only Rolex watch. Whatever happens to the market is not my concern.

It is extremely versatile, better looking than the current ceramic version, and it will only go up in price.

Enjoy.

Love my Pepsi; Have a Coke NIB from 2005 as investment

This was one of my first Rolex purchases.
Serviced by them 3 years ago and they let me retain the original bezel.
When the ceramic bezels were being introduced, I grabbed a Coke at 20% off retail in 2005. Put it away for my oldest grandson’s college graduation.

Cool watch in the past, present and more than likely into the future. Could care less about value.

+1

I own a 16710 and it's of 3 watches that I will never sell. I don't buy for investment at all, but if I were to forced to pick a Rolex for a long term investment ROI it would likely be 16710.
