Hard calcium deposits on gold center links

Hey guys. It’s been a little while I’ve been off this forum. Other hobbies took over. Anyway, I know I’ve asked this before but I forget how I corrected it.

My TT skydweller is a bit of a safe queen. I only wear it occasionally. I go through the whole process of cleaning it. I use the watch spray(forgetting the name) and the soft bristle brush. Then I usually rinse with distilled water and blowdry.

Last time I cleaned it, I used some tap water and it must be incredibly hard because there’s some water spots on the gold polished center links. I’m not sure how to safely remove them. I feel like last time I let me watch sit in a bowl of water possibly with a drop of dish soap but I can’t recall for the life of me.

Any thoughts? That don’t involve rubbing the surface. Thanks.

Do you have any pictures? Also, are you sure that it's water spots and not patina?

Hard calcium deposits on gold center links

I usually just lick my finger and rub it off or run my shirt tail over it till it’s gone.

Mine isn’t a safe queen though.

I would ask a goldsmith or jeweler what to use to take the spots off if they just do not wash off with warm soapy water and a soft brush. Heavy abrading will just leave marks on the gold.

Use a little lemon juice or white vinegar. Drop some on the deposits, wait a short while and rinse off. Then clean with soap and water and dry.

Wow Rolex watches sure gets a very pampered life today,in over 50 years of owning and wearing Rolex watches. All I have ever needed was plain soap and water rinse after in clean water and pat dry with any clean cloth after.

Do not rub your YG PCLs with your shirt tail. The best advice I ever got from this forum was from Mystro wrt keeping the Bluesy looking like new - resist the urge to wipe smudges off the gold center links with your shirt. My Bluesy looks like new to this day thanks to that sage advice.

Thanks Phil. My shirt tail is the least of my worries. I appreciate the advice though.
