18238 vs 18248 36mm yellow gold day-date

Hey Everybody, I have been considering biting the bullet and getting a 5 digit day-date. However, I am concerned the yellow gold will be a little too flashy for me. In debating between yellow gold and white gold, I noticed the 18248 with the bark band and bezel is little more subdued. Would anybody have 2 cents they care to share about this? Mainly curious if it is still a bit of bling or if the lack of polished surfaces makes it a little more 'under the radar', if a yellow gold Rolex can be. Thank you.

40 years ago, the corporation I worked for presented me this watch for being promoted to "President".
Wore it daily for a decade.
I wouldn’t call this reference under the radar.
Today, it gets little wrist time.

Bark is polarizing; some people love it and others do not. I think it's no more subtle than the regular version - and if anything the texture may attract people to ask about it!

I personally am fond of the barked bracelets but don't love the barked bezels.

Always loved the bark and Florentine finishes.

As far as metal goes, I’m YG only on the DD

I’m not a fan of bark in YG, but WG bark is a completely different animal.

I’d say it’s about even between 18238 and 18248 for bling, imo. The bark bracelet has more sparkle than the standard President (unless it’s been polished or worn away), but the bark bezel is less reflective and thus less blingy than the fluted bezel.

Perhaps the least flashy among YG DDs are the smooth bezel models like 1802, 18028, etc., but they are not common.
