Please help sub or datejust??

Hi, this is going to be my first rolex and im having trouble choosing between the submariner date blk face or 36mm datejust blackface ss fluted bezel on jubile bracelet. Which do you think if i want something iconic and instantly reconisiable that makes a statement? Also more for going out at night / jeans tee shirt. Thanx

Both are iconic, they are equally iconic in my opinion. They both can be worn for dress and being casual, so you can't go wrong!

Ah, looks and comfort are most important(to me it is at least) Personally i would steer towards the Submariner, but its a Rolex...you can't go wrong with whatever you choose.

As trite as it sounds, you really can't make a wrong choice here. Both are classic, iconic, and versatile. Is there a possibility of getting one now and one down the road?

Go with whichever one appeals to you more. They are both iconic. What will probably end up happening (which is happening to me now) is that you'll end up getting both :D

thanks for all the input. . as much as i love both leaning towards the dj only because have a tag aquaracer for every day and a breitling super avenger (which i really regret buying, way to big) so figured the dj alittle more elegant. . . dont know though love both coming down to which to get 1st instead of which to get 8)

I was told that you wear the tool watches for play and the DJ for dress. But, a sub with that deep black dial on the oyster band looks really great with a suit and is certainly at home with the jeans look.

I have both a sub and a DJ (silver face) If you plan on dressing it down more often get the sub.

I say DateJust but I don't own a Sub.

Have you tried both on? How do they feel to you?

The DateJust dresses up or down quite nicely.

Both are iconic and great choices, and even recognizable even by some non-enthusiasts.

The Datejust is more versatile, ie. can wear anywhere/anytime if you are a stickler for being'dressed correctly'. Its also more understated. The Sub has the advantage if you like a more substantial watch, and to most it has more presence.

You're right that with Tag aquaracer and Breiytling avenger, the DJ would give your collection more balance. Mainly just go with what feels right to you.

Now if you're like most folks, pick the Sub: it pleases most of the people, most of the time. Personally I prefer the Datejust. It's more understated and elegant.

My guess is that cureently you...

are leaning toward one of the 2. GET that one!! Then save up for the other. I know it's easier said than done. I never thought I'd have 3 Rolex watches but now I do. Patience is a virtue. Good luck with your decision!

Cheers,
Jim

i came 2 the conclusion that im going to have to get both watches 100%. Im leaning towards the dj 1st only because the tag i wear very sporty and dont know why but love how the dj feels. to me the jubile band and 18k fluted bezel just feels / looks great and gives such a stately look. for some reason the dj just occupies my mind haha.
