Never gone grey...but a Submariner 126610LN for only +2.5k?

I've just been presented the opportunity to buy an unworn 126610LN full set for only 2.5k USD over retail. Retail meaning the msrp plus tax out the door.

I own a few nice watches and have bought pre owned but never at a markup.

I have some Rolex from ADs, among them a 126610LV.

Amazingly I'm very tempted to do it!

Asking for a 41LN now from an AD is not ideal, I'm already hoping to get the new VTNR and don't want to complicate things.

What do you think?

Should I do it?

That isn’t bad. Especially if it includes tax out-the-door retail + 2.5k

It's 2.5k usd over the retail price with tax, has over 4 1/2 years warranty left.

A sign of the times, I'd wager.

If you go for it, just recognize that there is a chance that watch, or one like it, may be available in the near future for less. How much less? Who knows? But, the ground is shifting.

So, if you don't buy it, you're risking that you might not be able to land as good as specimen for as good, or better, price. And if you buy it, you're risking that you might be paying more than if you waited.

If you love the watch, and plan on keeping it, and can absorb the extra money, and be ok with it perhaps being available for less, later...then buy it. If you keep a fine watch like that for years, the asking price will be overshadowed by your enjoyment of the watch.

2.5 over seems like a deal that is too good to be true right now. Just do your due diligence, hope you are working with a trusted seller! Hope to see some incoming pics soon

2.5k to skip all the trouble and keep my AD focus on the new GMT...it's very tempting.

Then that’s a good deal. Do your DD, check warranty card, serial etc, etc. buy the seller not the watch. Ensure reputable etc.

Good luck

Well summarized.

Unworn for +2.5k would mean worst case scenario I'm out that much. Not likely to get another local opportunity for unworn.

The AD landscape around me is hyper competitive. I could eventually get one from an AD, I know it. It's simply a matter of time and potentially interfering with my main VTNR focus.

In a few years retail could easily be the price I could grab it for now. So, yes, I could start enjoying it in the meantime.

Sounds like you could grab it even sooner at retail. Why spend more and take the chance that is could be not what it seems?

Also, considering historical trends, highly doubtful Rolex will increase the price by $2500 in a few years.

And you already own a Sub Date so it’s not like you really need it. I’m not sure what your endgame is here. If you’re thinking investment, I would say it’s a bad / impulsive decision.

Fully agree. Rolex can't sell crab in China they're in total lockdown. I think other countries will get more allocations.

I've inspected the watch. All the accompanying accessories. Original sales receipt.

Watch--Would have to be a next level clone if not real. Rehaut, serial engraving, dial, nothing suspicious. Couple stickers intact, which are identical to factory also.

Accessories--All legit boxes, booklet. Card matches watches serial. White swing tag matches serial. Both look completely legit.

Receipt--All matching numbers, with matching family name to seller. Local AD with sales associate full name ID#.

Do you even want it? I would never buy any watch just because I thought it was a “good deal.” You’ve already got its brother.

Very simple really.

The price is coming down because they are now easily obtainable at AD.

In fact, many Rolex models are now much more easily obtainable.

Sounds fine, but I’d never wear a modern LN with a LV in the collection.

I know from experience.

Depends on your situation. If you have more money than patience, that's a no brainer. I hate paying over msrp for anything, but considering how long you will probably wait for that AD call, I'd do that deal if that was the watch I was shopping for.

All these basic base models will be heading back to MSRP.

Huge drops happening across the board and something probably wanting to offload before the profits turn negative.

Yes, could be.

The retail on this piece has risen noticeably from last year so can't be ruled out.

It's extremely impulsive! But not investment driven. First encounter with the new 41 all black date and I felt something.

Yes, like I said above, it happened very suddenly when I saw it...the black 41 sub date is magnificent!

This latest Submariner is their best. Obtaining the all black classic version suddenly became like a need.

Personally would rather go for 124060 since you already have a 126610LV. But that's just me and I did. As for $2.5k above retail+tax, it's not too bad of a price but I wouldn't buy that watch from a third party.
