Need opinion on IWC BP Mojave desert

Hello,

Long story short, I’ve been on the list of a big pilot mojave desert big pilot for around 4 months, I got the call to come pay the deposit to receive the watch by the end of the month. Price is $18k (including VAT).

I absolutely love everything about IWC and already own a chrono top gun, I can’t tell you how much I love IWC and their top gun line (especially mojave editions), but for some reason I’m hesitant to pay around 20k for that watch…

Watch is limited annual production of 250.
I’m afraid if I pass on the Watch I’ll never be able to secure one in the future.

Help??

Go with your gut…

I personally like the piece and the line. That being said are you hesitant because of the price? If so have you looked at the secondary market? Is that an option? They seem to be several thousand less.

I have, there are less than 10 on chrono24, none on watchbox…
I think I’m gonna pull the trigger..

Like you, I'm a big IWC fan (own a couple models from the BP lines).
I had the opportunity to pick up the Mojave as well and passed on it, mainly because I just couldn't get over the steel crown and the case color. It just looked odd to me.
I have the IWC Timezoner black ceramic and the fact that the crown and the case are the same color makes the watch so much better looking IMO.

I have the Ceratananium Timezoner, Lake Tahoe and Woodland, I am an IWC addict and know what you are going through. Simply put do you love it, can you afford it without putting yourself in the s*it. I have 'higher end' brands, but I always gravitate back to the ceramics. What IWC are doing with their Pantone approach really sings to me. I have tried the Mojave twice and it does not work for my skin colour unfortunately otherwise I would love to have that one to complete the Pantone set. Good luck and let us know what you decide.

I love IWC, and have since I was in high school, where an IWC of any kind was just a glint in my eye.

Since then, I've purchased 2 but have gone the retro route, getting a Spitfire Chrono 3879-03 and a BP Heritage 5010-04. I love them both.

I do want to get an IWC in Ceratanium, but am angling for a perpetual calendar, in particular the Rodeo Drive version.

On the Mojave Desert, it's a beautiful watch. It's not for me because, and don't laugh, when I see it on my wrist, the case tone and my skin tone just don't "match." It really is like camo, so for me, it has limited applications in terms of wearability if that makes sense.

Same thing with the Lake Tahoe but opposite in that it stands our way too much for my liking. I'm more of a Woodlands kinda a guy.

Anyway, if I was offered a Mojave though, especially the perpetual calendar, I would have to really give it time to answer. I would not be an instant "no" for sure.

excellent piece. Lewis Hamilton have one on his wrist all the time.
250 annual production is pretty low

Considering I think the watch is $14800 retail US I would pass at that price you mentioned. No watch is worth paying over MSRP to me.

That strap looks gorgeous with the Mohave. When you mentioned “they” you mean IWC?
