I know this is a Rolex forum
I know this is a Rolex forum, but have any of you seen the big Omega Planet Ocean. What a watch, my AD told me (don't know if this is true) that Rolex had instructed them to make sure their display was seperate to other brands particularly Omega. He went on to state, he had been informed that this Omega PO was having quite an effect on S/S Sub sales.
Make of it what you will, but I have to say the Omega PO S/S black bezel & face was very impressive, build quality seemed superb. Any thoughts

Careful with any PO comments. Ed might be sent into a crazy fit and ban you, Baptistman.

Don't know about it hurting the SS Sub sales, but the PO is a great watch.
Looks great on the rubber strap, too.... |

No, John, I won't ban Jon. He posted innocently. But I will ban that bald Kiwi if he posts that unementionable picture again.

Here we go again. When Ed sees pictures of the PO in the unmentionable color the fires of Hell come out through your computer screen and impending doom is cast over the earth.

Believe me nothing not even price affects Rolex SS Sub Sales. As much as I hate that fact its a fact, they could sell these SS Subs for 10K and people will still buy, its a Rolex trade mark. As much as I like Omega I don't think any watch in the world has sold like the famous SS Sub. Last edited by JIM-; 7 December 2005 at 08:08 AM.. |

I do think it is a great looking and functioning watch. Very good actually. But I really doubt that Rolex will have a hard time moving any 16610's because of any other dive watch. Just MHO.

Not to offend anyone or be overtly polemic, but that particular Omega looks like the "love child" of a late night and one night only Tag and Casio hookup.
Just my humble opinion. Its the bracelet that just doesn't do it for me. Plus the bezel is not wide enough creating a somewhat odd appearance in my opinion. I have a Seiko that suffers from the narrow bezel width syndrome. I think that big watches in this category need a wide bezel and that is what leads to the balance of the Sub and Sea Dweller. Rolex got it right, right from the start. I do appreciate Omegas, in fact, some of the older models are very attractive timepieces. It's just that they shouldn't be slumming it and sleeping around! Like those immoral Tags and such! Last edited by Air King Date; 7 December 2005 at 01:36 PM.. |
