I have worn (and used) the Deepsea 116660 24/7 ever since I got it. My wrist is fairly flat but just a smidge under 7” circ. With the glidelock and proper fit I personally love it and have no issues. It’s certainly bigger than my 16600 but after only a couple days it became just part of my daily routine and I didn’t find it awkward or too large at all.

I’ve not seen the new version but I understand it’s smaller lug to lug so it might wear a bit smaller?

Anyway, as you can tell I’m a big Deepsea fan so that’s my recommendation.

SD43.

I like the DSSD small date window and no cyclops, also the clasp, but you just can’t get away from (or forget) the extra case height and weight. It does unbalance it on the wrist.

SD43 TT is even better balanced with the added bracelet weight. Not popular I know but then all these pieces are niche.

I still have the Deepsea. I prefer the way it wears and looks overall.

My wrist is 6.75” and the 116660 DSSD fits me great, looks great and is comfortable. It’s a spectacular watch.

I own the SD43 and have tried the DSSD on my wrist. Both fit my 7.5" wrist just fine but for me I just couldn't get past the thickness of the DSSD and more importantly they way all that thickness is right there on display on the sides of the case. The JC dial is a thing of beauty, I will say that.

I have the deep sea Sea-Dweller Cameron dial and that was what sold me on it was the dial. Since then I have picked up the Sea-Dweller 43 and to me it's just a larger Submariner. As far as which one I feel is more comfortable on my wrist it would have to be the sea-Dweller as the deep sea sea-Dweller is thicker and seems a little bit heavier but not so much that I won't wear it because I like it also.

The DSSD no longer has a diver clasp like every Rolex dive watch it was removed. The Challenge is the only watch with a divers clasp.

Beside that, many say the DSSD feels better on the wrist.

As an owner of both, the DSSD felt better on my 7”wrist. The SD43 was very uncomfortable for me.

Good question, OP, and both very cool watches that should work fine on 7” wrist. It’s often said the DSSD (especially the 126x and 136x models) is more comfortable than the SD43, in large part due to a flatter caseback on the DSSD. A forum search should confirm this. Though this could be personal, it was my experience as well that the DSSD was more comfortable. .

The Deepsea 136660 lost the Fliplock extension link of the previous 116660 and 126660 references. It still retains the DeepSea line Glidelock clasp.

There have been several threads over the years with opinions on the case back of the SeaDweller vs the DeepSea, distinct from the balance and distribution of weight I referred to.

I had the 11xxxx DS, sold it as I found bracelet too thin I like the small dial though..but the date was so hard to read..added sd43 to the existing sd4k and both are so complementary to me although they are both in the same family of divers.

I have owned both together since 2017 when I added the SD43. I wish the slimmer sd43 was the more comfortable of the two, because I like the looks of it and lighter feel. However for me not the case. Not even really close. If I’m wearing the sd43 I miss the comfort of the bigger DSSD. Very odd I know but no question about it. Put on the DSSD and I forget I have it on.

I have had both.....the SD43 was more uncomfortable. The DSSD, being a bigger watch in all aspects, was still more comfortable strangely.

Thickness and dial….if you’re good with the thickness on the DS get it, but definitely the JC blue. If going between just black dials, I’d personally go sd43.

I have never worn or owned a sd43. I don't have a large wrist, around 7 inches if not slightly less, but the DSSD with Glidelock clasp and a flat wrist wears incredibly comfortably. I think the shape of your wrist has much more to do with how comfortable the watch wears than the diameter of your wrist.

Prior to purchasing my 136660, I noted that many members of this forum have purchased and subsequently sold their JC DSSD. Many respected and veteran members have repeated this cycle several times because they didn't like the weight or fit, regretted the purchase, then regretted selling, only to do it again (sometime three times). Seems that they loved the JC DSSD dial but didn't find it comfortable on the wrist.

My personal assessment is that with a flat wrist, the 13660 wears very comfortably. It is certainly heavier than my 5-digit GMT II, quite noticeably (even comically) so in comparison, but I got used to it in less than a day. I adjust the Glidelock probably once a day based on my wrist size reaction to activity or temperature. This greatly increases the comfort factor of the watch.

I cannot speak to the wearability of the SD43, I have never owned one. But I do reference several members who sold a SD because of the comfort of the caseback. Some mention it above. I would highly recommend going to an AD that has both "exhibition only" and trying both on. Just understand that you will not get a good feel for how the watch feels on your wrist with respect to comfort factor with just a try-on for a few minutes in the AD with an unsized bracelet. When it came down to it for me, the beauty of the JC DSSD dial and the fact that it didn't look absurd on my wrist was the deciding factor in my purchase. Best of luck!

The prior post is spot on and quite comprehensive. For what it’s worth, I have both the DSSD and the SD. 7 1/2 half inch fairly flat wrist and both wear quite comfortably for me. I had one link moved from the 6 o’clock side to the 12 o’clock side on the DSST and that improved the fit relative to the weight of the watch. It really wears quite well for such a large watch. To me, the best aspect of the DSSD is the James Cameron gradient dial. It’s absolutely stunning. In low light, it tends to look all black but in brighter light and certainly direct sunlight, the color gradient from blue to black is just fantastic and there’s nothing else like it. Contrasted with the green deep sea logo it looks terrific. Definitely worth a look if you can find it in at an AD to try on. Hope this helps and good luck with your decision!

I’ve got an SD43 & an 8 inch wrist - perfect dimensions for me. Not sure I’d want something thicker.

I find the SD43 super comfortable - I’ve been wearing it the last week, & barely know it’s there from a comfort perspective.

As that doesn't, and probably will never exist, the SD43 is the right choice.

Of course, I'm a biased SD43 owner so your opinion may vary (be wrong). Ha!

Definitely recommend trying on both first via AD or a reseller etc. These watches can fit very differently on different wrists. It sounds weird but my theory is the people who find the SD43 uncomfortable have a "lean" or less-fleshy wrist and vice versa. For me, the SD43 sits perfect on my wrist, the lugs are almost flush to my skin with just a little breathing room and I hardly notice its there. I also don't wear mine tight or loose where it can slide.
