New Rolex Airking

Hey All,
We just received the new AirKing model (36mm) at my store. For those of you who have not seen it, I think it looks great. This one came with a Rhodium dial w/ black roman numerals and a white gold fluted bezel. What I liked the best was the new bracelet. The center links on the oyster band are solid, the entire band has a brushed finish, the clasp is like those of the new datejust except the clasp is not polished but rather frosted ( I'm talking about the part of the clasp that used to be sheet metal). Also, on the inside of the dial you can see "Rolex" repeated. Of course no green hologram decal on the case-back and it came with the new plastic warranty card. Overall an awesome improvement over the previous model.

I saw one the other day. I could not believe it was an Air King. It was beefed up and beautiful.

I played with one at my AD the other day. It feels like such a solid watch now. Too bad they are too small for me.

34 mm.....have seen the watch at a few ADs here.....

the all brushed bracelet gives us a good idea of what a rumoured "new submariner bracelet" would look like as rolex slowly but surely upgrades the range of oyster watches.....

I really like the Chicago Bears orange/blue dial. Too bad the watch isn't a little larger.

I have to chuckle whenever I hear this nowdays.

I've been wearing a Sub for more than 30 years and I can't count the times in the 70's or later when I was asked why I wore such a "big" watch. Disco dancing with a sub could break someones jaw...

I don't remember the 60's that well.....Did we wear watches back then......?

I got one 4 weeks ago!

I got a new Air King(My first Rolex having always been an Omega man) 4 weeks ago. I had originally wanted to get an Explorer 1 or a Speedmaster, however the lovely girl at the AD suggested I had a look at the new watches they had just got in. I was shown 4 Air Kings, none of which are shown on the official website. I was shown 2 with blue dials and roman numerals, another with a white face and blue baton markers and the one I bought which has a silver face and PINK batons. Thats right, PINK! It's so amazingly minimal and discrete. I just doesn't shout ROLEX! And those pink batons turn BLUE in the dark. Oh, and it had a hologram on the back with a paper certificate, not the plastic card thingy. However, I have one slight complaint. Sometimes when I'm unscrewing the crown, it doesnt pop out all the way. It sticks at the last thread I think. If I keep unscrewing it it eventually pops out. I took it into 2 AD's and they said they couldn't see anything wrong with it. Am I just fussing, is it just a small quirk of rolexes? I'd hate to thing Iv'e threaded the crown or sumthing! It's just lovely though. My Seamaster is sitting in it's box gathering dust.......................

Quite like the target or bulls eye dials quite retro looking very much like they were on many Rolex watches in the 1940s and 1950s.

Really?, so I haven't broken my crown after all? Thanks, that's good to know. Must just be that I'm used to Omegas! I can confirm that it has a satin like brushed steelinox bracelet. The bezel is very shiny as is the side of the oyster case. I was also told by my AD that I could have the dial changed if I wanted free of charge when they have the dial options in. Doub't I'd do that though, it's just lovely the way it is. Now I just need to save my pennies and get a Milgauss. Then again, that TT Blue Sub was rather fetching in the window........................

Anyways, here goes again. I can confirm that the new Air King has a brushed steelinox bracelet. Its a satin finish which so far is very difficult to scratch(My Seamaster is a scratch magnet). The bezel is very shiny as are the sides of the oyster case. My AD said that I can even get the dial changed for free once they have the new dial options in. Doub't I'd do that tho as it's just lovely the way it is. I really like the Milgauss, think it's gonna be pricey here in Scotland. I also like the TT Blue Sub. My other half would go nuts tho if I got another prestige timepiece!
