AD has 40 pieces for sale!!!

I walked into a local AD in PAkistan yesterday and there were 40 pieces available for sale. Many were datejusts with the Wimbledon, palm, and mint green dial. There were two two-tone Daytona’s (black and champagne dials), an Explorer in SS and two tone, and an Explorer II with a polar dial. I was shocked to see so many timepieces. I was a Dubai Airport a couple of days ago and they didn’t have a single watch for sale.

Has anyone else ever seen this?

Did you buy any? Did they have prices on them? Selling at market value since some still have premium?

I didn’t buy any. Didn’t see any prices and didn’t ask either. Are you saying an AD would openly sell them at a premium?

Sounds like exhibition pieces.

Mint green DJ is still difficult to squire at an AD.

The SA said that whatever I could see was for sale and there were no ‘exhibition only’ signs in the display cabinet that you normally see.

Hello everyone, I’m also from Pakistan and Karachi specifically.
I’ve visited the two ADs in Karachi, Pakistan plenty times, their names are: kahf international and international watch company.

Now getting to the main point, yes Bram is right, all the watches are for sale however the catch is that the prices are officially more than the prices I get from grey dealers in dubai.
Basically the ADs in Pakistan charge an ever higher premium as a grey dealer would in USA

They might be losing or lost their contract with Rolex so they are clearing their inventory from the safe. So most likely premium prices.

It's the same all over Middle East, India, etc. Countries vary how much premium they add.

Thanks for chiming in and clarifying. Weird how Rolex allows this to happen in certain parts of the world.. I guess when you have no options you look the other way for such things..

I’ve called out the official ad for this his response and translated from Urdu to English(some might get lost in translation)
“We have to pay custom duties which are more than 50% of the price us “the dealer” pay directly to Rolex”
Meaning they have to pay custom duties on the price they acquire the watch from Rolex for.

However, I know the ins and outs of how things work in Pakistan. These dealers DONOT pay any customs on the watches they acquire through Rolex. Not all but majority come through grey or black channels.

They are fully functional but they can't be sold because they have no warranty cards/ultimately need to be returned to Rolex.

Yup. I remember 2016 going to a Rolex AD and they had a full case, including pretty much every sports model. Only thing they didn't have was the new ceramic Daytona and they offered to get it for me. Now...

Someone might have slipped some peyote in your tea because that’s an immediate ‘I’ll take all 40’ moment you passed on… for some reason.

Same story when I go to Cuba and buy some cigars from the shop. No sir, prices have gone up by 10% as I’m holding the price list in my hand

Wow! Thanks for the clarification. I didn’t know that. I wonder how Rolex is even okay with this?!?
