Move it or keep it?

To be honest, I thought it would have kept its spark a few months down the line. Sadly, that hasn’t been the case. AP does ceramic like no other but at the end of the day, it just looks like any other watch out there.

Hypothetically, keep or sell? What do you guys think?

Not sure how strong your relationship with AP is, but this piece is fairly new, isn’t it?
Might have some concerns about blacklisting by AP if you sell the piece quite quickly. But if you are good with them, then no harm moving it on…

+1, if it doesn't harm your AP relationship I would personally sell, I am a bit biased as I am not a fan of ceramic.

How do you mean “it looks like any other watch out there?”
Besides being ceramic, it’s undoubtedly an AP ROO through and through. Unless you feel it looks too much like other AP ROOs??

Sell it if you don't get blacklisted...hope somehow that's workable.

Nice allocation but personally just not a fan of THIS piece...

I never really like black ceramic that much (26238CE), I would rather go for RG (26238OR).

Move it or keep it?

Thanks for sharing your thoughts being on the fence about it. It would be toward the top of APs/ offshores I would pick if I could get any.
Trying to think of what else looks like that and am grasping for straws! (At least in the luxury watch game)
To answer your question: I say keep it.
It’s under the radar in a good way. We can’t always wear full rg bracelets.

yeah I am not sure about "look like any watch out there". Hardly anything looks like an offshore. I am assuming that since you got this allocation you are in you boutique's good graces so I would just talk to them and let them know you aren't loving it as much as you thought you would.

This is still my favorite release for the ROO 30th, so I'm surprised you want to move on and confused by the "looks like any other watch". For less established clients, getting this allocation would require hard work on behalf of their SA, so I'd make sure to talk to them before selling (although, I'd just keep it unless there is some particular need to free up funds).

I have to agree with you, black ceramic watches all look similar in the end. This could be any PVD, DLC, whatever you name it, big black watch.

Unfortunately you had to purchase it to discover it was not singing to you.

My advice would be to hold to it for a bit, perhaps it might grow on you?

What initially interested you in this model?

Black ceramic watch with black ceramic (or any other ceramic color) integrated bracelet always looks « toyish » for me. I dont like the shiny « plastic » overall aspect even when done by AP.
Better talk about it with your SA before selling it.
I have the 26238ti and I would not swap it with ceramic version.
Always sad all those efforts for smth we don’t bond with. I had the same with the Rolex Daydate olive RG. Was so hyped before I wore it and never bond with … now my wife is happy with it hahaha.

If the watch is not doing it for you then move it for something that does. I get the, "AP might black list me for a sale", but in the end, so what. There are so many nice and cool watches on the market from all types of brands that the possible loss of being a AP Authorized Dealer customer does not phase me. I value my own personal self respect and dignity not to mention my time, that I will do as I please. And buy what I want and can afford.

Difficult decision as the ceramic beast is beautiful. I tend to agree that the all ceramic version may lose its luster after a bit of wrist time. Doesn't pop as the steel counterpart in my honest opinion. Transparency with your SA is likely a good decision. Best of luck in your decision.

This black beast is quite a special piece for sure. Yeah, it may look like other watches if considering only black but ceramic from AP is actually not like any others if focus on the details. I'm not selling it if not necessary or ruining the relationship for allocation.

If you can get a safe sale - then sell it. I do think the RO ceramics exhibit the finish much better than the ROO...maybe trade for one?

Can't think of anything PVD coated that is finished like an AP ceramic watch or shines like one when the light hits just right.

Edit: another whatever big black watch:

The ceramic APs are amazingly finished, unlike PVD coated watches. It’s a completely different category as per VP said. The problem with the Beast is that it’s really bulky. With a strap it’s still manageable, with a bracelet it’s really huge.

This is another story. Contrast in the dial detail is amazing. Also, the case thickness, is spot on.

It does look too big for your wrists. Otherwise, it’s a great watch

I’d unload it. I actually swapped my request from this to an End of Days.

A ceramic RO is better since it’s a flat surface for the light to bounce off

If you’re thinking of selling I’m guessing there’s something you want to buy and this could help justify the next purchase? So what is it!?

Maybe they do, just a little bit? But I haven't seen the CE Beast in person, and could imagine that given its bulk and lack of RG accents (unlike CE RO), it is a bit of an acquired taste.
