New and looking for advice on a vintage piece.

Hi all,

New to the forum, hoping to get some advise on a Rolex I'd like to buy.
Reasons: I like their design and history and, most of all, I've always wanted one since my late dad told me I couldn't have his when I was 18!.
I'm not looking to spend a lot (hope this doesn't sound ironic). I want a vintage piece with a date window, don't mind if it's manual wind, silver or white dial. I see them on ebay for even less than 2K, which would be ideal but wouldn't mind going a little over the 2k mark. Thing is, I don't trust buying a Rolex on ebay.

Here's what I'd like some help with;

A reputable ebay seller that you can recommend, a model name and/or number I should look for. A brick and mortar store in NYC where I might be able to find one. Or, if you have something willing to sell, I'd love to take a look.

Many thanks,
Aureliano.

From what I've searched so far, it looks like the Air King model would work for me. I see they come with a silver dial but they don't seem to always have a date display. Is is ludicrous to think that one could be found for less thank $2500?

It isn't, but you should try one on first.

Yesterday I tried a similar looking to the Air King at a jewelry shop in the diamond district. It was a DateJust with silver dial, fairly new so the price was above my budget. Needless to say that I loved it. The Air King seems to have a case slightly less tall, which I actually like more.
