Hi all, seldom see posts on Concepts in the forum. I know they are super heavy hitters and thus not many owners and/or big spenders would rather get a RO high complications than a Concept?

For those who owns a Concept, how's your review on it?

I have black ceramic Mk 2 GMT and a Lap Timer. Nearly bagged an RD1 recently but was trying to be a little bit too cheeky with my cheeky bid.

Great watches but earlier versions very difficult to wear unless you are Arnie. Latest designs a huge step forward. The Lap Timer is right at the top of the chrono tree (even above the triple split in my view) - simply a fabulous piece of haute horology from APRP.

Very under-appreciated by the market.........

I've tried on the Black Panther and it feels very comfy on the wrist. But something about the case design just doesn't sit well with me. Can't really pin point what it is.

Some are just massive and unwearable...the newer ones to me are right on.

I love the spider man size and feel.
The split seconds GMT is also killer.

Just tried on the Concept about three weeks in tokyo, and I loved it it was only $130kUSD I think

I wear mine a lot for travel!

Up until they updated the case size and shape, it was difficult for me to pull off the proportions of the 44mm Concepts. I have a 7.5" wrist so can take on 47mm Panerai, RM011s, and Offshores reasonably well, but the 44mm concept was just incredibly awkward in terms of geometry. It's a very flat and thick case design which in my case created a major gap on my wrist with the rubber strap.

The new case design was essential for me to take the leap to the concept series. The 43mm case and the crystal are both curved, conforming incredibly well to my wrist, and making it super comfortable. Beyond that, the ability to change straps on the fly is amazing! My only wish was for the piece to have a ceramic bezel, as it still is 17.4mm tall (a little taller than a Lange Dopple, RM011, PAM 372)...

It's a fantastic canvas for future pieces - and am excited about what AP may do with complications, case materials, and other innovations in the concept line!

Yeah when I was at the Tokyo boutique it is there and they had the Code 1159 tourbillion that was actually more expensive than the Concept. I was also shocked and surprised to learn this making me want the concept even more. As it is such a work of art and complication

That's a steal. In Singapore, all Concepts are way above SGD200K

my 38 concept, i know its a female piece. but i love the size fit on my wrist, hope they produce more on this size and with a nice dial

Thank you - so no way it was USD130k then. I know the JPY is all over the place but that's way too low. They do the FX to local currency from a CHF base price on the day of sale. I think the CHF price is around CHF190k.

Totally agree. USD130k is way too low. Probably the only possibility is after tax rebate?

10-4. I was in the AP house a few weeks ago in Tokyo and the pricing was consistent with the CHF currency exchange rate. Think all models >100k are pegged to the CHF on a daily basis.

I think that one looks awesome. The size makes way more sense too vs the massive ones.

Just sorted one of the APs and one of the RMs. But new options are appearing every day.

Just for a little fun I will give you a clue on the AP: it is black, very limited and from my favourite AP range.

Dial side has two chrono second hands and a 30 minute counter.

At the core of the watch is a fly back chrono. The Lap Timer then is a form of split second but more sophisticated, allowing you to time sequential laps whilst keeping a record of the previously timed lap. So one of the second hands stops and the other returns to zero and immediately restarts so you record the current lap and then immediately start counting the second lap. This process continues every time you press the lap timer with the previously stopped hand then resetting to zero and starting a new lap. That’s crazy. I had to reread that several times lol. Is the MB&F Sequential similar?

It is complex and not so easy to explain. Let's try a real world example to see if this makes it easier. Let's say you want to record a three lap race and wish to see if you are improving each lap.

At the start, you start the chrono.
At the end of lap one, you hit the lap timer button (at 9 o'clock), one of the chrono hands stops, the other returns to zero and instantly restarts. Let's say the lap is 52 seconds, so the stopped hand records that.
At the end of lap two, you hit the lap timer button and it tells you that you have improved to 51 seconds, at which point that hand stops and the hand from lap 1 showing 52 seconds resets and starts again.
At the end of lap three, you hit the stop button, and it tells you that you have improved to 50 seconds whilst still showing you the 51 seconds from the previous lap.

Then hit the reset and you are back to zero.

I am not an expert on the MB&F Sequential, but I believe it is two entirely separate chronos with a "twinverter" button that starts one and stops the other simultaneously - so I think you could replicate sequential lap times albeit on two separate movements rather than on one movement (the AP).

It is fiendishly clever.
