hi friends, authenticity check please!

http://cgi.ebay.com/100-Authentic-Gr...QQcmdZViewItem

can you tell me if this looks real? to me it does not for some reason, i think the top of the bezel that dot that glows looks a bit off from mine, and the little ticks that go all the way around the watch look alot darker on this one than mine. im trying to find an lv for my friend that wants one bad, but i dont want him to get burned. thanks in advance!

For me it's hard to tell from the quality of the pictures Mike. The one thing that concerns me is the seller only has 11 previous transactions. All for low dollar things. I think that by you having questions, this should raise a flag and you would be better off staying away. I know I would.

Well speaking for myself I always buy the seller and not the goods. He has not any real feed back to talk of.Pictures are a bit blurry,he talks of Rolex documentation but does not show it in any picture. But don't forget the picture in reality could be anyones. My gut feeling is leave well alone, ask him some leading questions.Ask for picture of the documentation with a paper with todays date on in picture,or a name you tell him to write. But again nothing can be 100% certain of Ebay,do your homework on seller.

I'll take a stab at it

My vote...

Not genuine. Why? Poor fitting SEL's. SEL's are not sharp and crisp. The way the SEL's fit on the back side.

I swear I can make out the crown engraving at 6 o'clock (although quite fuzzy).

The crown guards appear to taper in at the bottom instead of being nicely square where the crown seats.

The crown on the clasp just looks strange. It strikes me as odd that he can't focus the camera on the frontal shots but does just fine on the back shots.

He does call it a 2004 which would explain the bracelt number on the inside near the SEL's.

The white gold around the hour markers seems too thick.

How say you?

Agree with you there 100% Peter.
Also, his sale conditions really raise my hackles.
3 day auction, must sell now, must pay withing 24 hours?
Sounds like he wants to avoid getting shut down.....

Yeah its a fake. The SEL's look all wrong. And the guys are right. If this seller can't take a sharp picture of the dial, or indeed the crown guards, but gets the back perfectly its dodgy. The gold surrounds on the markers are indeed too thick and the bezel pearl looks dubious too IMO.

I'd stay away from this one.

I see he is selling a Yachtmaster too... Interesting how he isn't showing the clasp on either watch. Thats another giveaway.

Interesting thing about the YM he has for sale. I believe that since the TT YM wasn't released until 2005, it has always come with the new style box, yet in the picture, he has shown an older style box.

That's the first thing I looked for, Paul. I absolutely agree with you: very little feedback as a seller, and all cheapo stuff.

My take: Stay away. Do not take a chance. This smells to high heaven.

He is in Maryland, usually the frauds say they live in the USA or other place that cannot be nailed down. Ask him if you can buy it from him at the local Rolex dealer after authenticity has been guaranteed. See if he runs.

Also it could be stolen, many thieves use Ebay as a fencing location for stuff from teacups to laptops.

Lastly it could be legit and the guy needs the cash and was only offered 50% from the dealer. I suppose if someone wants to put effort into it this can be determined nicely.

I have how the bidders are private, that way they cannot be "warned" by others.

ask for a ton more pics, if he takes more crisp up close pics, you can make a better judgement on the authenticity

also see what his return policy is

get it "AD" the watch, if its fake make sure you pay in a manner which makes it easy to get your money back if it is fake

I just checked and the ebay listing has been removed. That might tell you something.

well mike looks like ebay pulled the auction.. This listing (290036511959) has been removed or is no longer available. More then likely fake.

Sorry I got to the party late. Sounds like everyone took care of you.
When in doubt don't--others come along all the time.
