First Cubitus to Hit Grey Market @ 150k

Or at least one of the first at 4x retail...can think of SO many better ways to spend $150k or $40k at retail for that matter.

asking doesn't meant they'll get it. wishful dreaming on the seller's part

Let’s hope Patek do what they said they would and black list these people who flip as soon as get new pieces. They should also look into the AD selling these and how they are selecting their clients to be allocated these pieces.

It will be interesting to see how much they actually sell for.

I sincerely hope this watch is fetching a 30% discount off retail (as it should) in a year and people just set $100k on fire.

The arrogance of TS and general PP/ AP/JLC pricing at this point is mind boggling, coupled with the "we are not a nautilus hypocrisy"...

Am I right in assuming that behind each and every Cubitus in the secondary market right now, there is a first purchaser who has somehow lost interest in buying further new Pateks after spending a humongous amount of money at an AD which enabled him/her to get the Cubitus this early?

Prices are always crazy in the first weeks after a new release. It is not indicative of where the market will settle once the "I need to own this right away and don't care about wasting money" crowd has thinned.

why? cubitus are fairly easy to get - just buy an add-on like a 5524. no one will mind if you drop both. not sure for how long you can make money on the bundle though. maybe a month or two.

Has Patek/ADs ceased to blacklist customers who have sold their Pateks within a short period from purchase ?

Indeed, and Patek has launched an instant registration system (not sure if it’s just launched but certainly new since my last incoming in March). No longer a 6 month wait for a letter thanking you for your purchase, AD registers purchase instantly online and my mothership email arrived in less than 24 hours thanking me for my purchase. I assume this is aimed at clamping down on flippers.

No, definitely happening. My AD just blacklisted a huge client for flipping.

This is good to hear, let’s hope more collectors get the pieces they are after.
It seems shortsighted but I guess some just looking to make a quick buck soon as allocated a sports piece rather than genuine watch fans who want to collect Patek.

Seems like a $100,000 loss to me. The seller should have priced it at $250,000, because if PP wants to know which dealer / customer is profiting, well then, you may as well ask for $250,000 :)

What did I tell you. The SS model will be impossible to get, except to the most special elite long term buyers with no record of resales or the folks willing to pay massive markups on the used market. It is simply supply and demand, a few will trickle out here and there, against a market well into the thousands who want it now at any cost.

No turning back now they have ruined the company by turning it into a hype Naut-Aqua business, most new customers now only want the models that can turn an instant profit if needed.

I'm seeing the 2 tone in the low 100s. With the steel green 5711 around $200k seems more and more like a bargain...

Patek might be buying them, we could see some dealers dismissed during 2025.

i think it depends on the country. the UK PP affiliate seems still to blacklist people, in other european countries nobody cares. look, PP makes a cut on a sale, the AD does. so as long as they don't get heat from other collectors finding out about flipping why should anybody intervene?

not sure how that can clamp down on flippers. at best it makes some people believe that it clamps down on flippers.

i forgot to add that it also depends on what you flip. no one will care about a flipped calatrava or a 5524, or even a nautilus/aquanaut/cubitus. if you flip a rare handcraft or an MR than it might be game over if they catch you. unless of course you are a really good client::)))

Interesting. I’m curious about this.. I have bought several Pateks recently, just took delivery of a 5968 which I would expect to be the type of watch they wouldn’t want flipped but I haven’t gotten anything from Patek or anyone- I don’t think anybody would know if I sold it unless Patek bought it and traced it back to my AD. If I get a new AP and don’t register it right away they call me and tell me to register it to my profile right away.
I don’t understand how Patek would know?
