Anyone here tried the PARNIS watch brand?
Hi,
I was looking for some homage watches and came across PARNIS. These guys seem like INVICTA, they copy all the ROLEX designs down to the teeth... Has anyone got any experience with them, in terms of movement and longevity and quality? Usually their collection is all under $120 .. Thanks |

Not just Rolex, seems no one is safe, they copy IWC, L&S, Panerai and others. Not my cup of tea, Homage's as a concept are ok but not blatant copies with $hit components.
"Movement: Automatic (self-winding) movement" probably from the Czech Republic

Then I guess it's a good thing they don't copy Corvettes

I don't understand homage watches. If Kia built a car that looked like a Porsche with a Kia badge would people buy it?

I actually have held one. Got a Panerai homage for a young friend and they aren't half bad for $120 ish. I ordered his with a sterile black sandwich dial. Definitely not a Panerai by any means but it had the look and he was tickled

I just went to their website. I guess they put their label on it instead of Panerai, or Rolex, or....., and make enough design changes on the dial, date wheel, and similar, to keep from being sued by the Swiss manufacturers. IMHO, this is only one step away from the cheapo knock-offs you find in Bangkok, Beijing, New York City, etc. I think the idea sucks, but I guess there are people who will make a buck anyway they can, and people who will support them.

I don't even see it as one step away from a knock-off. In my opinion a "homage" watch is just a blatant rip off. I dont see how they are paying any homage to any of these brands we respect. But your right, people buy them evidently!

I bought one, a Panerai rip-off. I wanted it to test the waters and see if I wanted to wear such a large watch all day and if it suited me. I also wanted to try it out under my cuffs to se if it could hide there. I don't really know anyone with a Panerai and I would hesitate borrowing one anyway.
The jury is still out, but I might actually buy a Panerai now. The Parnis watch will gather dust in a drawer until my grandkids will find it cleaning out all of my crap after I'm dead... |

Well if it does comes for a less price than i'd certainly go for it. But that is very unlikely to happen as the material used by an exotic manufacturer is way beyond the reach of a normal manufacturer.

Parnis is really horrible. They use Chinese factories that produce low end bad fakes. So you get Canal street crap "quality". Not even remotely close to the Chinese factories that produce for the small "high end" replica market.
Parnis is a major rip-off as far as what you get, true crap. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD |

Parnis watches are not bad for the money , If you get one with a Seagull or an ETA Movement they are really good and worth $200.00 for the ETA and $80.00 for the Seagull ,However get one with a Nanning Movement and its pretty much a waste of money.
Still it keeps my Rolex good ,The Parnis is a good beater nothing else. |

I purchased a Parnis GMT with a day/night indicator earlier this year. The case is well finished and the leather band is nice, especially for $90.

I have bought three of these.
I've owned three of these. All copies of the GMT Master II. One was finished in PVD.
Quality: You get what you pay for. Compared to a real Rolex, they are junk, but if, like another user said, you want to test the waters, they are great. Compared to Invicta, or any other brand in that price range, they're better. The case is actually well made. The crystal is mineral of some sort and has not scratched. The cyclopes does it's job. The ceramic bezel is actually quite nice. There's a screw down crown, and the movement hacks and has quickset. They actually come with two different movements, a cheap Chinese movement, and some are sold with an ETA (or perhaps fake ETA). Those go for around $200. The two with "ETA" movements both broke after over a year of heavy use. The date stopped working in one, and the GMT stopped working in the other. The Chinese movement, in the PVD didn't get as much wrist time, but continued to work. The first one I bought, the PVD one; came with a really junky clasp that I didn't care for. The other two came with the snap clasp, and are quite nice. The links themselves are shit with screws to disassemble them. They were often pre-stripped and generally low quality. I bought these because I wanted to know if I would really want/wear the real GMT Master II. Sure, it's a blatant rip off, but, for me it was important that it didn't carry the Rolex name. I went to the AD today to look at the GMT Master II Ceramic which I would not have had an interest in, or done if I had not purchased these copies first. I get, if reading this you hate my guts and everything about copies, but keep in mind that you/we (as I own other high end watches) are a privileged lot, and not everyone can dump car money on man-jewelry. There's a significant difference between $200 and $8500. For $200, a pleb can have a solid stainless case with a mineral crystal, a surprisingly nice ceramic bezel, a nice bracelet, and a GMT movement with a hacking second hand. I feel like we forget that some people use their copy as a reminder to work hard so one day they can have the real thing. I always strike up a conversation with someone wearing a nice watch and always the first thing out of their month is "it's a fake" before it gets handed to me. I'll happily post pictures if anyone is interested. Also, let me know if you know where I can get a deal on a real one because I'm ready to pull the trigger and just thinking of $8500 is making my wallet hurt. |

Nope. Not for me. "Homage" is just a fancy word for a fake watch.
