4000 posts celebrated with an SD 4000. LONG POST!
Guys, this Monday I finally FLIPPED MY SS SUB DATE!!
I thought I had had it for too long since I bought it on the 27th. of July this year! Well, to be serious now: I never really liked the cyclops. IMHO, it is "in the way" since you have to look DIRECTLY onto the cyclops to tell the date. And I don't like how the hands are blurred when passing underneath the cyclops. I have worn my SS Sub Date, but since I am VERY cautious with my watches, it had NO scratches whatsoever. So on an impulse, I phoned my AD Monday and simply told him that I was not really happy with the Sub Date and asked if I could have it swabbed for an SD instead. I simply just like the cleaner look of the dial and the thicker case that fits my wrist better. My AD told me that he would be willing to do so if the watch was like new in box. He would have to inspect it and maybe have to detract a small amount since I had used it. I asked whether I could STILL get 10 % discount on the SD, too, and he said "Of course you can", but he would STILL have to inspect the watch. I immediately went to my AD with the Sub Date, he inspected it and told me that "all is what is should be". An SD would arrive this week, he also told me. I only had to pay the price difference between the SS Sub Date and the SD (minus 10 % discount on the SD)! So HERE IT IS (and bye bye, Sub Date): Full Package (BTW. I have 3 SD Anchors now since this is my 3rd. SD): He received FOUR SD's (1 Z-series and 3 M-series, and I chose the M-series with the easiest serial number): Some views: The obligatory wrist shot (the bracelet did not need to be adjusted whatsover, it just fit me right away: Some lume shots (sorry about the shaken pics): And THIS is now my updated list over "flipped Rolex watches": 1. Submariner Date (16610) R 97 XXXX, bought on 22.04.1989 2. Submariner (O.P.) 5513, (serial # n/a), swopped at Portobello Road Market in London for a Sub Date 16610 3. Datejust (16234), serial # n/a, bought on 22.11.1989 at "Watches of Switzerland" in London. 4. Submariner Date (16610) L 55 XXXX, bought on 25.05.1990 from my AD in Denmark. 5. Submariner Date (16610), X 90 XXXX, bought on 06.10.1993 from my AD in Denmark. 6. Datejust (16234), X 33 XXXX, bought on 08.02.1994 from my AD in Denmark. 7. Date, Lady (69240), X 56 XXXX, bought on 10.05.1994 for my mother from my AD in Denmark. 8. Submariner Date (16610), W 24 XXXX, bought on 13.06.1994 from my AD in Denmark. 9. Submariner Date (16610), W 24 XXXX, bought on 02.06.1995 from my AD in Denmark. 10. Sea-Dweller (16600), S 50 XXXX, bought on 07.06.1995 from my AD in Denmark. 11. Congrats Bo. Welcome back to the fold. Although you were there way before me. That is quite a list you have there, I never realized you were such a serial flipper. Now I understand why you wanted all those SD pics.
I would say I wish you many good years of wearing your SD but in your case I think I better just say wear it in good health until the next... |

Since it's a Sea-Dweller, I guess it's appropriate that you "swabbed" for it, matey.
Congrats on the new watch, and I wish you many happy weeks with it.

Personally, not just because I own one, but the Sub-Date is a FAR better looking watch than an SD.

Congrats Bo. A long and distinguished list you have there. Wish you all the best with your new friend ! What is the longest you have had one watch for ? What one (if any) is your biggest regret in selling ?

Congradulations Bo! An "M" series at that! Now, do you ever see yourself with an example of each (simultaneously, that is)? And BTW, congrats on the 4000th post as well!

And of course I also regret having flipped the SS "Zenith" Daytonas that I have had, but it was just TOO tempting to get a huge premium by selling them. Luckily, NONE of the SS Daytonas belonged to the "Rare to very rare" series or variations (for example "Inverted 6" or "Floating Cosmograhp") that are shown in this overview:

Congratulations on 4000 BO!
And what better watch to celebrate 4000 posts than a SD 4000! Its the perfect tool watch, cannot ask for anything more with the SD because it already is a great watch in every way. Gotta love how its an M series too. M for magnificent and marvelous! Heres to 4000 Bo, I toast to you

Great SD
Congrats on getting the SD for your 4000th post, Bo! Awesome watch. I went through much the same reasoning process as you describe before getting my SD (as well as the seemingly obligatory surrogates beforehand).
Wear in good health for many years to come! James

Congrats Bo! We're now traveling in different directions. However, both directions lead to heaven.
Btw, what's the difference between Z and the newest M serial?
