Any experiences visiting the Grand Seiko Studio Shizukuishi?
I’ll be in Tokyo next month and have reservations to visit the Grand Seiko Studio Shizukuishi. While day tripable from Tokyo, it pretty much takes the entire day, and Shinkansen + taxi costs will be over $500USD for two people. I’m debating whether the tour is worth it or not.
Has anyone here been to the Shizukuishi Studio before? Any feedback appreciated. |

If I had the chance I would, 500$ for a once in a lifetime experience sounds like a bargain to me

The train ride itself is an experience... if you can get a nice window view it's really quite scenic.
Personally I would go for it. Sounds like a fun memory.

You’re going all the way to Japan, the point is to see and do things you find enriching.

Useful advice to you:
1) Go on the visit. 2) Go by bullet train. (Comfortable, quiet, fast and damn good fun. And this is from someone that hates the train my own country). 3) Buy a JR Pass. 7 days cost is ¥70,000. (So about $450). But you get 7 days unlimited rail travel for the price. You need to buy the pass while you are outside of Japan. Check out website here: https://japanrailpass.net/en/purchase/price/ |

Or you can consider visiting the Micro Artist Studio in Nagano, which is closer to Tokyo. You can observe their famed finishing technicians producing sublime stuff like this.
