Purists what do you think of putting a 116520 bracelet on a 16520?
I love the Zenith daytona. I think it is a very special piece for multiple reasons.
I don't like its bracelet. Its fine but the modern daytona bracelet is perfection. What do you think about putting the modern daytona bracelet on a Zenith daytona? |

It's your watch and I don't see a problem with that.
Just keep the original bracelet in case you want to sell the watch so you can put it back on.

How old is your 16520? Depending on whether it has the SEL lip or not in the case you may or may not fit the modern SEL bracelet

To me, part of the charm of 16520's are their lighter weight. They are noticeably lighter than the 116520 that I have. I suspect that fitting a 116520 bracelet to an earlier watch will make it noticeably heavier.
I also like the earlier watches with the brushed bracelet and simple clasps. |

So do the last 16520s have different cases to the earlier ones without the solid end link bracelets?

Older Oyster cases lack the ledge / lip on the case and are not SEL bracelet compatible. My S series Sub has the lip in the case and as such can use the non SEL band (93150, which came from) or the newer SEL bamds such as 93250, 97200, 77200, etc. Check this thread: https://www.rolexforums.com/showthre...=470606&page=3 This is how the led / lip on the case would look: Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

Remove the bracelet on yours and check to see if it has the ledge, if so then you can upgrade to the newer bracelets

I have both an early and late 16520, one with the brushed bracelet and one with the solid end links. If I was going to change a bracelet it would be putting an earlier brushed one on the later watch. I really like the feel and design of 16520s and that includes their lighter weight.
Thanks again for the info and link. |
