Sub in Sauna?
i wear my sub to the gym and work out with it.
How about wearing your sub in the dry/steam sauna? would that damage the movement?

No. If your Sub can’t handle a sauna it would be a pathetic dive watch.
ANY Rolex Oyster can handle any hot tub or sauna. Rolex advertises a basic Oyster model being boiled in a pot without damage.

Most people will say no. I personally would leave the watch at home when at the gym. Barbells and watches do not mix well and the weights always win. Sitting in sauna/ hot tub with a watch on is not comfortable to me and I doubt it is great for the watch.

I’m no expert, but have previously worn my sub, gmt, sea dweller and now an AP Diver all in the sauna, jacuzzi and steam rooms.
Thinking specifically about dive watches, my reasoning has been that if they can function 300m plus underwater, then a little heat/steam should be no problem at all. The above said, my watches have all been new/modern and I wouldn’t necessarily apply my logic to vintage pieces. No doubt you’ll get all sorts of advice here… Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Neither of these activities will harm your watch in any way. If you smack your watch or drop a weight on it, it will be damaged - so will your wrist. Saunas are no hotter than a summer day in the west, south, Caribbean, etc. Seals, gaskets and the like are all Delrin and Nytril and not affected by water temps or solutions, even if you could ever get it past the tight sealing surfaces.

Eh, I wouldn't... I've gotta ask, why? Is it a "flex?"
When I exercise, I want to do that, not worry about the tens-of-thousands-of-dollars on my wrist. They've got clocks in the gym. Use those to make sure you get back to work on time. Will the sauna DAMAGE the watch? Probably not for the first few times. But, the repeated extreme heat & humidity aren't awesome for the rubber gaskets. If you get those replaced annually, then go ahead. I'm sort of interested in your firsthand research, though.

Agreed. I can't see any reason to wear an expensive watch to the gym

I wear my watches to the gym then I wear them on my mountain bike where I'm likely to crash. I will only live once, I'm not wrapping my watch in stickers or leaving it at home in a safe.

I wore my seiko monster in the sauna many times. No issues. So I am sure a rolex sub can handle it.

Sub in Sauna?
We have a hot tub/spa. Last time I was in it, my Submariner was fine, but I didn’t handle it nearly as well. My blood pressure dropped to a dangerous level and my wife was about to call 911.
Fortunately, I rebounded pretty quickly. Apparently, this is more common than you would think. Now I know I can’t sit in it for more than twenty minutes without taking a break. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I wear mine in the steam/sauna and to the gym. Have done it daily for months. It can handle it (assuming it isn't compromised).

I sauna every day, mainly to relax, so if 1% of me would be worrying about the Rolex on my wrist, I would take it off so I can fully enjoy myself.

Not wear it? What's the point of owning ia Rolex then? Leave it in the car or a locker where it may get stolen? The safest place for it is in your wrist. |

You probably shouldn't surely it will accelerate the deterioration of the seals saying that I sauna everyday, gym five days a week, I have worn my 5 digit sea dweller for the last 20 years at the gym and in the sauna never serviced, runs a bit fast.
Dunno, I guess if you do it be prepared for something to go pear shaped.

I hate sweating in my watches. When I am sweating, I am typically miserable and just want to have as little on as possible. But that’s just me.

Same. I see people at my gym everyday (lifetime) wearing their Rolexes. Don’t get it. And if you can wear your sub in the sauna, it’s either not hot enough, or you aren’t staying in long enough lol. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
