1) mk1 ( 5 lines floating ) : R and early L series ( inverted 6 )

2) mk2 ( 4 lines ) : L series up to around 500.000 ( inverted 6 )

3) mk3 : ( 5 lines ) : from L 500.000 up to around S 500/600.000 ( inv.6 )

4) mk4 : ( 5 lines ) : same range as mk3 ( inverted 6 )

5) mk5 and mk 6 : from around middle/high S up to A series ( standard 6 )

a big thank to the italian collector PINO who has done the deepest studies ever made about the 16520 and the present tablet.

Here is one for the post: Earliest R series Mk1 Porcelain floater with early Mk1 200/50 Bezel. One of only supposed 50 made in SS model and the only 16520 in my collection. This one was bought from Quinson Leung and comes as part of a complete set in pristine condition...

just wondering how these dials can be categorized in terms of rarity from starting from production start 1987?-1998?. Would it be right to say that the MK1 is the rarest and MK6 the least in terms of watch numbers/unique dial characteristics or are there some in-between that don't go in that order? On a whole, would this ref 16520 be considered quite rare amongst the other Daytonas and did they all have the Zenith movement?

how many questions !!
as a matter of rarity ( steel model only ) my ranking is the following :
1) porcelain ( aka "porky" ) dial mk1 (5 lines-floating ) on R cases only ;
2) black or white ( non "porky" ) mk1
3) black or white mk2 ( 4 lines ).
4) 5 lines with inverted "6" ( mk3 and mk4 ).
about the other marks .. a production estimate is not easy.

Thanks for sharing, I was unaware that there were so many different dials, the spacing changes other than the floating Cosmograph are very subtle. thanks again,

Hello all. Is there a Mark I non-porcelain white face? I thought all the Mark I (r serial#s) had the porcelain face.

The first 50 of the SS were porcelain and then they switched making the porcelain like yours quite rare!
