2 out of Daytona, Aquanaut and Ro

Hi everyone,

I hope to own a 116500, 5167a and 15450st in the future. If you were to only own 2 of these models, which would you choose and why.

I feel the 3 work perfectly together. Aquanaut arguably the best daily, RO most attractive, and Daytona with the chrono function which I think every collection needs.

If you could only keep 2 out of these 3, which would you pick?

Easy choice as the Aquanaut does nothing for me personally.

Between the RO and Daytona, I’d likely find myself wearing the RO during the week and then the Daytona at weekends (due to date function being more useful to me M-F).

The only negative with my choice above is that you’d have 2 watches both on metal bracelets, whereas the Aquanaut would add something different (to either).

What have you got currently OP?

I would keep the Aquanaut and the Daytona. Preferably an OF Daytona...

I'd keep the 5167 and 116500 but I prefer 5711 blue over those two combined.

The only AP I'd ever want is a 15202 or older Jumbo (or a ceramic QP at retail which won't happen).

I have a 116500 white dial and 15450st blue dial. I’m on the list for a 5167a and have no intention of selling it when I do get it. But I often think about stream lining my collection. And feel in many ways these are 3 perfect SS daily watches. But I was wondering do they overlap slightly. I just can’t in my head justify dropping one haha.

Daytona and the AP.
Don’t like the Aquanaut, other two are much more interesting watches

Having owned all 3 with the Daytona still in the collection, I would say the 116500 and 15450. Sold the AP for a down payment on a car otherwise I'd still have it. The 5167 did nothing for me and lasted less than a year

Aquanaut is one of the most overrated watches IMO.

Second best thing to Nautilus that wasn’t even popular before the hype.

Daytona and AP RO were iconic for the past 50 years+, so easy choice.

Get the Daytona, H. Moser, and Torsti Laine. Welcome to 2024, the 1960s are long gone

Good recommendation. I checked out Laine because of your post, reminds me a bit of Gronefeld,
Very interesting watches especially the chrono. Level of finishing looks really great.

If I had to choose, it would be the Rolex and AP.
That said, for me it would be none of those as I would go in a different direction.

I guess I’m in the minority, but I’m a big Aquanaut fan, not so much AP. Daytona is very comfortable (I don’t subscribe to what’s iconic as much as what I like to wear).
The fun part is deciding what draws you to any of these!

What would you choose for daily wear steel watches? (Or PM)

I own both and prefer SS for daily. My go-to is a Sub or GMT.

I would get 5167a and 15450st first. Daytona is to common to interrest me that much, se them almost daily.

I would agree with this 90% based only on cost

The PP has the Strap which is comfortable and adds a little diversity to the collection BUT the 5167A PRICE vs the BANG for the Buck you get with the Daytona is a variable and if Price is an issue then the Daytona wins for me!

the RO is the #1 choice all day everyday you cannot beat the bracelet and design and dial I dont care how passionate a ROLEX lover is if they took the pepsi challenge and did the RO vs any ROLEX head to head the RO wins hands down
