Truth About the Hulk 116610LVc
Around 8 years ago I first saw the green Submariner. I know that green is Rolex's brand color, but I thought the watch was somewhat of a joke. It never appealed to me at all. It never appealed to anyone I knew. If anything, a couple of my friends made fun of the watch, on their own volition, without any prompting.
About 7 years later, with supply low, and then demand going high, so many people, including myself, began to appreciate the appeal of the watch. I was seriously considering cutting the Swatch, and my minor connections in my metropolitan area allowed for this. However, every single person that saw the watch, including my wife, dear friends, co-workers, strangers, every single person with whom I spoke either politely described why they disliked it, to outright laughed and shared how ugly they thought it was. I'm only saying this because I think it's nice for us to not only partially depend on each other's opinions, but to seek other opinions as well, especially to the people with whom we associate in person. The interesting part is that, I had requested that Neil send me one of the most gorgeous pictures I've seen of the Hulk, side-by-side by what a my favorites, the one 116618 LB. Again, a multitude of people had nothing but negative things to say about the watch. I'm not bashing the watch, in fact, I'm somewhat disappointed at the people's reactions. Many of those people happy Rolex, and appreciate fine jewelry and watches, yet this is there feeling towards this particular model. I thought I would share to put things into perspective. And RIP Hulk in My Book |

To each their own. Some love it, some don’t. While I think that the dial is gorgeous and catches the light in a different way, it isn’t for me either. That being said, there always is a watch for everyone, one man’s meat is another man’s poison.

This is the nuttiest post of all time.
The Hulk is drop dead Cindy Crawford hot. And the price reflects it these days. |

So you buy, use, or wear things based on other people’s opinions, not your own? Pretty sad. And you only liked it for fear of missing out? Almost feel sorry for you.
I picked a new one up today, because I like it, not because of what other people think. |

That seems just the taste of people surrounding you and their influence on your watch selection, sorry to know that, but they are not necessary the "truth".
The truth is the opposite. The Hulk is a hot watch loved by many many fans from all over the world. You can always claim most people like it because it is hot, pretend no seeing or believing many members own stories sharing here. |

Is this thread for real or click bait?? It’s a little late for April fools joke but assuming it’s for real:
“The trueth”? Balderdash, the LVc gets more unsolicited comments of interest and admiration than any watch I have owned over the last 20 years. It’s a rock star. What a bizarre thread. We ain’t buying it OP.

I don’t really care what other people think of my watch choices. A decent percentage of this forum thinks the YM2 is ugly. In regard to the Hulk specifically, it takes some time to really warm up to it. I tried one on probably 10 times over the years before I finally pulled the trigger. The last few times I tried one on, by the time I went home, slept on it and decided I wanted one, it was too late. In the beginning of February when my AD got another one in I decided to just buy it and thought I would flip it if it didn’t sing to me. Within a week or so I was really loving it. The watch has many different looks/personalities that can’t be appreciated in AD lighting. The LV is definitely not for everyone but it’s hard to appreciate without spending some solid wrist time with it.

It’s all internet generated hype... IMO it’s ugly, and because you can’t find them, people are willing to pay over msrp to get one. It’s the same watch that no one talked about a year ago

That has not been my experience at all. I’ve received many compliments from friends, coworkers, and strangers.
Even if it were the case, and the whole world hated it, you ain’t taking it off me. I’ve been admiring it all day, and every day since buying it ten months ago. |

You cannot make everyone happy. Some people are happy with the hulk some not.
What's important is you. Will it make you happy... |

Seems to be a lot of threads on the LVc lately. I actually owned the LVc (check out the avatar) and ended up selling it as it never really felt right on my wrist. That was maybe 5 years ago. Fast forward to today and I'm curious if it never felt right because I was simply self conscience about it, worrying what everyone would think. It certainly is a unique piece. Now if I had the choice between the two watches in the OPs post then I would go with the LVc all day and twice on Sunday. I find that all gold piece to be completely over the top and gaudy.....how their friends would call the LVc laughable and think the gold sub was not laughable is, well laughable to me!
But that's just it, there are so many different perspectives on these pieces and so may different circles we roll with. I wouldn't be caught dead with the gold sub. My friends would laugh my ass out the door if I walked in with that piece of costume jewelry on. The OPs friends did the same with his LVc. Oh well. To each his own. Now all this talk about the LVc is moving me to have a chat with my AD. Maybe that's the next one on the list after the BLNR and DaytonaC.

Love and own the LVC. It sounds like you and your friends are spending too much time talking about it. I couldn’t imagine having so many passionate conversations about a green watch. Obviously to each their own, but to call it a joke is just insane. Not sure I am buying this post.

I loved mine and enjoyed it for the time I had it. Never had anyone comment on it except my two close friends. One is a firefighter and one is a prominent CFO. One knows nothing about watches and the other is a WIS. If i had friends trashing my watch, I would reconsider my friendship with them

Truth is, it’s an amazing watch and better appreciated in person than on photos. The other truth is, it has a lot of hype around it with dc rumors and short supply. So as long as the person wearing it likes it, that’s all that matters.

So you like the LV but you won't get one because other people don't like it? I can understand where you're coming from but I learned a long time ago that the less you care about what other people think, the happier you'll be. Especially true when it comes to things as inconsequential as a watch.
