New GMT, ghost in the wild

So I went into one of my AD’s this afternoon, large exhibition selection, including the GMT ghost. The first one I have seen in the wild. I must say I was no impressed. I did not like the combo of the black and gray bezel. If you are looking for a GMT that flies under the radar, this is the watch for you.

If anyone is interested in a WG Sub with the blue bezel, let me know because the sales person asked if I was interest in that watch in the display. Perhaps it could be sold.

My work colleague got one last week, it is under the radar because at first I thought it was the discontinued black bezel gmt. Same, didn't like it too much, was ok.

Isn’t it funny how everyone slated the guy on the Daytona thread, and quite rightly I may add, then like a pack of wolves the same people repeat everyone’s comment about shock of all horrors someone dares mention a name for a watch ? Seriously ?
You all know what he means, he mentioned black and grey bezel ….

New GMT, ghost in the wild

FYI, I believe the term “in the wild” is for seeing a watch on the wrist of an owner out in public.

Seeing a watch in an ADs display case does not qualify as “in the wild.” Thats literally in captivity.

Ah, a fan of the Discovery Channel & Sir Attenborough, I see You are technically correct, which, to paraphrase James May, is the best kind of correct.

Technically only the 2 tone and full PM are call "Ghost". It officially got the name from the 1990 movie of the same name starring Whoopi GOLDberg. Notice the emphasis on Gold.

I’m more intrigued with the use of the phrase ‘in the wild’ to reference an exhibition piece at an AD.

The SA at the AD told me the story about why it is called the Ghost.
I did not follow it all but it had to do with the fading of a previous model dial.
Do I believe that? I don’t know.

Again, I like the GRNR because it does stand in contrast to the more “colorful” GMT models. Especially with the Jubilee it is in the gap between a Sub and a BLNR for example……. Destined to be a classic for years to come.

Not sure a Rolex sports watch, with a shiny ceramic bezel insert with a polished bezel and centre links is in any way a fly under the radar kind of watch.

These watches seem to be in the market as they are already with the Trusted Sellers and several incoming for members. I like it on the jubilee and will probably buy one when the price is what I can tolerate. I believe in short period of time, 6 months to 1 and 1/2 years, this one will be sub 15k in the secondary market. Not a release many think is very special. We will see. Thanks for the report.

Ghost is taken, so that's a no no.

For the love of all that is holy, can you not see the level of chaos you are potentially unleashing upon humanity if you give two different watches the same nick name?

Yeah. I thought this might be able to go under the radar. But even if it doesn’t have bright color, it’s way too shiny.

Saw one recently (exhibition model) and the black/grey bezel looks good but overall it did come over as fairly "shiny".

Saw one recently at AD.
Like all things, some will love it, some won’t.
I found it underwhelming.
