Hello from Kentucky
Hello everyone, it's a pleasure to be a part of this forum. I have joined to ask a few Rolex experts for their help. I have obtained a rolex from my grandmother, she likes to keep old things. But this rolex seems kinda odd compared to others, i have took a picture for you to view for yourself and see if you know what kind of rolex this is or if it is fake. the picture isnt great but hopefully you can tell. On the sides of the rolex is a turnable dial that has diffirent areas such as new york, rio de janeiro, london, paris, moscow, tokyo, wellington, los angeles, etc. on the middle dial it says rolex oyster pertual date. in the middle is the adjuster and the month and day, on the bottom it says water-resist quartz. any idea if this is fake? http://s241.photobucket.com/albums/f...rent=watch.jpg

Welcome to TRF. Glad you decided to join our friendly forum.
Unfortunately, I'm afraid I have to tell you that the watch in question is not a real Rolex. The biggest giveaway is the quartz indication. Rolex only made an OysterQuartz watch in the late '60s - '70s and it was a much larger watch than you show. Also no Rolex came or comes with a turnable dial with city names. Sorry about that, but I hope you enjoy your stay here.

Hey, thanks for the quick reply. It's fine, didn't really think it was, just wanted to ask some Rolexperts. :D I'm trying to decide what kind of Rolex I should get. I want something sporty, but not to showy, any ideas?

For sport watches, there's the classic Sub (Date or No Date). Then there's the GMT-IIc (although some of us prefer the older GMT-II or the vintage GMT, when you can get either one). There's the Explorer and EXP-II. Both are similar to the GMT but without the rotating bezel. And, of course, many of the models come in SS, YG or TT for a little diversity. Anyway, good luck on the hunt for your first Rolex. I would advise you to find a good Authorized Dealer who has a decent stock and try on as many as you can. You will eventually find the one that smiles at you (you'll understand when you put it on). That' the one for you. In the meantime, stick around and keep us posted on how the search goes.

Hey there man! I'm in Cincinnati - how far from OH river are you?
BTW - for your first REAL Rolex, you should go with a gently pre-owned steel Submariner which is a couple years old. Cannot go wrong with that!
