Wearing habits - fine watches

I have a Daytona that I love to wear. However, coming home from work I usually take it of. Going tro the gym, working on the house, etc. makes my Garmin a good choice for evenings and weekends.

Since it is an expensive watch I lock it in to the safe when I get home from work. OK I guess, but a bit of an effort doing that every day.

Do you lock your expensive watches in every time you take them off?

I can't imagine going to play tennis, basketball, ride a bike, go for a run, or go to the gym with a Rolex watch, when I come home from work, I automatically put it on the winder.

It’s not so bad. I wear my Explorer 36mm nearly 24/7, including swimming and tennis, and it’s great. As long as the watch is properly fitted to one’s risk, there’s absolutely no problem.

We have a group of ~16 for 2x a week doubles. All pretty high level former D1 US players from many moons ago. I wear an Explorer, two others wear TT Submariners while playing.

I prefer to use a lighter sports watch on a rubber strap for sports (Garmin, Polar or Breitling Endurance Pro)

For sports I wear my Apple Watch, better suited and more functionality IMHO. Anything else, even just watching TV, I have a nice watch on. I don’t store all my watches in the safe all the time.

I have a nightstand with a hidden compartment where I keep a couple watches and other not to be discussed items. Often I’ll just use sock drawer too when I’m in hurry. I use the safe for long term.

This watches are called luxury watches for a reason, i cant imagine myself wearing an expensive DD randomly, that's why we have other watches for random times.

I, too, have Daytona, which I take-off when going to the gym and put back on when I come home, to enjoy it for the evening.

Not for me, I wear with what ever I am doing.

Watch I am wearing that day goes in the night stand drawer while sleeping. Others in the safe. Normally wear for a few days before rotating.

I wear in the pool, hot tub, doing yard work or what ever I am doing. I work from home and still wear my watches daily.

I bought them for me to enjoy, not to baby them for possible resale.

Take out of winder. Wear 24/7 for a week (except when showering) put back in winder. Pick another. Repeat.

It depends. If off the wrist for days it is into the safe, if just a pause until tomorrow then in a drawer. I do have insurance for all my expensive watches.

I put mine on after my workout in the morning, and I take it off before I turn in for the night.

I set it beside my night side table. No safe in my house

I wear mine on rotation pretty much all the time other than when sleeping, going to the gym or if I have to go to what I would deem as unsafe places. For such occasions, I use my Seiko 5 or a Casio.

Whatever watch I’m wearing for the week goes everywhere with me except if I’m doing manual labor then I put a Rolex on.

I use a sports watch for gym, running, etc. I definitely take it off to sleep or shower.

I’m not worried about scratches, but if I clearly know something may damage it, I will take it off.

I meant to put my Apple Watch on to climb table mountain on South Africa. On the way there, realized I forgot to swap it out and was still wearing my Panerai… Ended up being a cool memory with that watch I suppose.

Rolex watches are made as a toll watches. It is safe to do sports with the Rolex watch on the wrist. Just wear and enjoy your Rolex in every situation.

If you wear it all day, there shouldn't be any need for a winder.

My watches are worn as soon as I get up in the morning and they return to the nightstand before bed. I have a multitude of beaters for any situation during the day that could lead to excessive wear or damage.

I wear all my watches 24/7 in rotation. For certain tasks such as hammering, sawing, grinding, painting, etc., I will take the watch off, regardless of make.

Kept in the safe when not worn the next day, otherwise on the bedside table.

Usually when I get home I take most of my EDC stuff: my wallet, watch, knife, gun & pen off & place them in their place on my nightstand.

On weekends, if I'm doing my household chores, like landscaping, working on the cars or doing anything around the house I don't wear a watch.

I keep all mine in a watchbox on a shelf in my study. If i go out of town for a week or more i might bring the box (plus a few other items) to my friends who has a gigantic safe. I don't wear in the gym, but just put whatever i am wearing in the center console of my truck while at the gym. They are all insured, i dont worry about it.

Other than a few vintage, perhaps collectible watches, all – Rolex, Patek, Audemars - are worn whatever I’m doing. That includes running, skiing, rock climbing, handball and everything else except swimming, which I do only with watches with substantial depth rating. I wouldn’t want a watch otherwise.

Concerning safes, all my watches are in a safe except the one I’m wearing - typically for a week or so.

I go to work once a week, so sometimes I don't wear them for 5 days straight.
