My persons has a huge datejust dial question:

On a recent flight from Charlotte to Detroit, I was seated next to an old sport who went 1950's era Datejust. I showed the old chap my M-series 16610 and we chatted fondly about Rolex. He stated that the roman numeral dial Datejusts skipped a number on the dial. Do any of you true students of Rolexmanship know what this old sport was speaking of, or is he a big senile guy?

Thanks!

Was he talking about the Rolex crown at 12:00 or possibly the date window at 3:00? There are also the 3 6 9 dialed watches as well?

I agree with Yenning - maybe he was thinking of the IIII; peculiar to Roman dial DJs.

I just glanced at my DJ and I think he might mean that there is no "III" in the date slot! I may be naive but I think the "IIII" is a style thing! JMHO, have a great day!

Thanks everyone! I think we are dealing with a naive guy as well.
