Carlos Slim and his Rolex
Carlos Slim, the world's richest man, and his Daytona. Gorgeous watch, but one has to wonder, when you're the world's number 1 billionaire, couldn't you afford a more exotic Rolex, like a double-red sea-dweller? Maybe Carlos was slumming it that day with his Daytona.

I think if the worlds richest man chooses this one it shows he's got taste....no need to spend millions on a watch when you can get an awesome watch for a reasonable price.

From what I've read and seen, he never wears anything very expensive. Strange but true

Even that guy from Maroon 5, who's a judge on The Voice, wears a more exotic Rolex than Slim.

Agree with Kris. He chose the watch that sung to him, not what was going to flaunt his wealth.

I'm sure the Daytona is not his only watch.

Yup, I agree. He's got good taste. No need to be ostentatious.

It's a still a Daytona! It's not like he's wearing a Timex. Btw, I'll bet he enjoys a Cheeseburger every once in while too,

What can you say, the guy has taste. Same watch as I have! :-)
Seriously, even if I had billions, I'd still be sporting a Daytona or a Submariner on my wirst. It is the watch that fits my style and vibe. |

According to Hodinkee, this little vintage number runs between $500,000 to $700,000. |

A PP, Plat DD, or a vintage V&C would look more appropriate with a suit.

Guess what? If I had his money, I'd also get a SS Daytona. I'd buy a black just like his and a white SS, with several variations of gold and dials.

As I learned from my deceased father-in-law, one of San Diego's leading citizens, gentlemen wear simple things. Gentlemen do not wear blinky items. (Oh, yes, he was listed as one of SD three weathiest citizens).
His obituary simple read father of 4 daugthers and 1 son. His obituary was placed on the first page. His achievements would have filled the newpaper. He requested no services. Carlos seems to be of the same clothe. Beautiful Rolex. |

Is that possibly a Daytona he got as the sponsor of the 2011 Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona winner, Chip Ganassi's Telmex BMW/Riley?

Most classy Billionaires don't really flaunt their money, Warren Buffet. I even heard Bill Gates plays at the $5 table in Vegas.

I guess if he came from humble beginnings then a daytona (although cheap for him) still is valuable but not 'showing off'
also i bet its one of his first and so one of his fav's which he bought when he earnt his first 100k or something :) |

Nice to see his wealth hasn't ruined his taste. Classic watch. Simple & elegant. I don't understand why he's 'slumming it' - am I doing that if I wear an Omega rather than a Rolex on a particular day?
