submariner(16610) date change delay

hi, guys, my watch was bought two month ago, the date used to change at 00:08 midnight. but on the earlier 20th Sep it didn't change the date when I saw it at 1:00am, I was afraid something goes wrong so I just screw it to 20th manully.

The following days it changed date at 12:01, 12:08, 12:06, It is not like what Rolex boasted the date changes at exactly 00:00.

I would like to know if the scenario is fine, and what time does your rolex change the date.

I'm always awake past midnight, so I know when my Sub changes. I have yet to see it change past 00:04...usually it's within 1 - 3 minutes past midnight. I would definitely think something is amiss if it EVER took an hour to change...date change on a Sub after 0100 is not right.

No, with mech watches there will be some variation. Mine (including a 16610) change anywhere between 23:58 and 00:04

Having said that, I believe with some brands the date changes slowly over an hour or two.

If my 16610 regularly changed date at 01:00 I would probably have the RSC take a look at it.

My 16610 changes around 00:01.30 to 00:02, but I'm usually asleep so it doesn't matter as long as it's right when I wake.

I do not think that Rolex boasts this..

What they say is that the date changes instantaneous.. Which means that it snaps over at once, and not gradually.

But it is still a fully mechanical machine, subject to the position of the gears and wheels, so there will always be some variation..

Keep an eye on it, sure, but ENJOY it! Some break-in is to be expected once in a while. If this variation is not satisfying, a call to your RSC should answer any questions or concerns you may have.

Last week when I was speaking with my AD as I was buying an M series (new) SS GMTIIc we discussed the date change issue. I pick up my watch tomorrow morning.

He advised that the it is acceptable for the date change between 0000 hours and 0010 hours. Anything outside of that should be looked at. Mine changes date between 0001 hours and 0002 hours...........

I am sure other more experienced members here would be able to add their two cents worth on this topic................

I doubt it.

But do you suspect your watch is magnetised? (a common sign would be the watch becoming obviously inaccurate) I believe that some people place magnets beneath or in their bed mattress in the belief that it helps with certain medical conditions. If you wear your watch to bed...

If so, something the RSC can sort out.

I have my 16610 checked by rolex service centre, they said it lacking of oil on some certain parts. After been oiled, now they date changes at exactly 12:01.

K Series 16610, had it approx. 100 days.

In that time I obviously haven't been awake for every date change except, of course, for the first few nights I had it where I stayed up like a kid at Christmas to watch.

I keep it on the nighttable near by bed though and what often does happen is while watching the late SportsCenter and about to drift off I hear the "click" of the date changing and it always seems to be sometime after 12 but before 12:10. Has not yet, to my knowledge, varied from that 10 minute window.

Are you sure you have set the watch to correct time?

Maybe it change spot on but the time is wrong set.



Just try to sleep next time.
