Icon3 Replacing 126719 Blue Dial w/Meteorite?

2 Questions in here.

Was wondering if Rolex would allow/perform a dial replacement on my 126719BLRO with the Meteorite dial. I doubt seriously the RSC will do this for me. So I came here to inquire if anyone has done something such as this and if so, where did you get it done?

The reason I doubt the RSC will handle a request like this is because I also have a 116518LN with an alligator bracelet that I bought new through my local AD long before Oysterflex was ever heard of, and I recently went to the NY RSC and asked if I can replace the bracelet with Oysterflex, and they said no. First, my clasp won’t fit the Oysterflex, and second they won’t even sell me a new CLASP and Oysterflex to replace the alligator bracelet!

I don’t understand that. Who owns the watch? I want to update it a bit with Oysterflex and a new clasp, and they said NO! Huh?

So I’m thinking if I came in there again my new 126719 and asked to swap out the dial, they’re going to tell me to pound sand!

Looking for solutions folks, so all ideas are welcomed!

Thanks.

Unfortunately and as you have already suggested it anyway is a big no on getting that done with Rolex as it’s not how it left the factory. That dial alone would be interesting trying to source especially outside of Rolex.
You have the right to do whatever you want with your watch but just not via Rolex themselves

I called Rolex RE 116719 black to blue dial replacement. They said yes if outside warrantee period. Not sure about meteorite, but good luck as I doubt they would do that one.

I believe Rolex knows what dials are desired and won't let you trade for that.

I seem to remember another member here mentioning for a rose gold DD40 they could change to any dial they wanted except for olive--same concept here.

My thought was that this particular watch only comes in two flavors of dial. Blue and meteorite, so I’m not asking for a configuration that isn’t native to the watch to being with. I’m going to try at an AD and see what their in-house certified folks can do, if anything. Worst case is they say no, and I make a choice to go after market or not.

My (new) AD thinks it can be done but doesn’t have a pricing/order mechanism in the dealer portal. He is supposed to be looking into it for me, but nothing yet. I believe it is doable! It’s a current GEN and the meteorite dial is one of two configurations on the same SKU.

Might be an expensive upgrade however…

You know, I should mention that the new AD I’m working with has been a pleasure! I have an oysterflex F/G coming in on order and he says it fits my clasp no problem!

So my RG Daytona will be back in the circulation in no time! Woohoo!!!🎉

Keep us posted, would like to know out of curiosity. Personally, I would not do it. That meteorite dial is tough to read.

I have a watch out for service. Should be ready Nina few weeks. I’ll dig into it with the service team and see what they say.

I, too am curious to see what happens with this. My account states this dial is $2,600 USD and is an EXCHANGE HQ component. To me, this indicates that Rolex has to receive this specific dial from the watch before they will replace it. Rolex are not above exceptions, however.

That makes sense to me. Send it to the RSC and they’ll replace the dial, as an exchange. And frankly, if that cost is $2600, that’s well worth it!

I’d rate your chances of a dial swap at slightly below 0%.
But I’d be happy for you if I was wrong.
And if you are right, I will be heading straight to the RSC with my WG BLRO to get the same thing done.

I can’t disagree with you. I’d say my odds are slim to none. However, I’m going to be an optimist here!

Unfortunately your (new) AD is giving you false hope. Rolex needs to receive a meteorite dial to replace it with a meteorite dial. Zero chance that Rolex would swap a blue/black dial for a meteorite.

New AD hasn’t said one way or another, they don’t know and are curious about it as well. But I’ll say that I’ve not pushed for an answer either…

You said, “My (new) AD thinks it can be done.”

Then you said, “I believe it is doable!” Hence, my statement that your (new) AD is giving you false hope.

stop perseverating on this. Clearly, you already know the answer.
