Never Ever Doubt Rolex: Oysterflex Edition
Boy was I wrong. Dismissed it from the beginning.
“Cheapens the look of the watch” “How can you wear a 30k watch on rubber” “Those Fins look weird” “Can just get one on bracelet and throw it on rubber strap” But wow. A week plus into the daytona on OF, I am so sold. It molds to your skin as you wear it more. And I actually love how the fins keep the watch centered. So comfortable and so versatile. Rolex, sorry I doubted you! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Very nice! (I see some stickers on the lugs and on that center link, not sure if intentional)

Yes, I’m a fan of the Oysterflex, although in my case on a Yachtsman 42mm. As the OP mentioned, it helps keep the watch centred, it doesn’t slide around the wrist. It’s one of those things you have to try for yourself. Also very easy to keep clean with a regular wash. Well done Rolex.

I just don’t know what to say. Yes, it is a good looking watch. It’s just not worth the money with a rubber strap... I cannot get on board with this. However, it’ not my money, and I can appreciate your opinion that it is. Enjoy!!!

There’s 10K$ difference between full gold bracelet and OF version. It’s 10K of pure jewelry. A lot of money for a few gold links. Envoyé de mon iPhone en utilisant Tapatalk |

Congrats on the daytona. I'm glad it's comfortable for you, but I personally hated the fins, it was irritating to my wrist for some reason. Amazing watch nonetheless.

OP, I totally agree. When I first got into Rolex, I also had my doubts about OF and its pricing. After I purchased my 126655 and had it sized, all those worries went out of the window! Fits amazingly well and I’m already looking at adding a OF Daytona into my lineup. Just waiting for them to add the glide lock as it’s the only OF references left without it.
+1, a lot of folks forget that the price difference is just for a full gold bracelet. You could look at an OF reference as saving $10k compared to its closest full PM sibling. |

The price is mainly for the 18k gold adjustable clasp. The actual bands are quite a small part of the cost.

Great looking and, I'm certain, comfortable watch!!! Congratulations!!! I love the look and feel of rubber straps!!! I was disappointed by my visit to one of the local ADs last week who told me that they try not to get OF braceleted watches in because they sit too long before they sell. He blamed it on the conservative nature of New England. It cause me to halt my trade of the Platona for an OF Daytona and 40mm Day Date. I really do love the look and I'm certain I'd love the feel as well!!!

Am with you on this. I was the same when offered the Oysterflex Daytona. I thought a PM watch on "rubber", no its the wrong combination. Changed my mind quickly when I tried it on. The WG Daytona is the best looking Daytona in the current line up IMHO and the Oysterflex strap is incredibly comfortable.
Enjoy... |

Congrats on yours! continue to enjoy mine. I’ve always liked swapping out and using straps, across the range of sport references. Oysterflex is not quite as comfortable as Everestbands, for me. I am sure Oysterflex is perfect for others.
It’s the distinct look of the WG and OEM black straps that sold me on this one. Cheers.

Congrats that you like the OF! I gave it a try with the 116518 YG but sold the watch after a few months. In my case I found the OF comfortable however the 2 fins always left some marks on my wrist. But perhaps the main reason is I think the OF isn't integrated into the watch as well as the oyster bracelet. The color is also not 100% black but kind of dark grey so it doesn't match very well with the watch case. I may give it another try in the future.

If it makes anyone feel better, here's a Patek WG Aquanaut on rubber that sells in the mid-$60Ks on the secondary market. (Like some Rolexes, virtually impossible to get this one at retail.) |

Interesting. This is one of the few comments I’ve seen complaining about the OF comfort. If the micro adjust and three spots in the clasp weren’t enough, did you ever consider going up a size on the OF? It seems like the 5mm micro and multiple spots ought to be enough to avoid that kind of compression if you have the right size OF, no? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
