Day Date 36 or 40 help

In the market for a yellow gold day date. Currently I have a datejust 41 oyster/fluted/slate dial.
Would like opinion on 36 vs 40mm
Disregard the dial. I am going to get either silver or champagne. Just for size reference

First 2 photos are 36mm

Next 2 photos are 4omm

I had and loved the 40.

On you, I think 36 is much better.

My DJs are both 36, from mid 90s n early 2000s, it was the perfect size at that time.
I would go for 40 now

I feel the same way as this post. I can’t decide ! Haha. One of my concerns is going from the DJ 41mm to the 36 may make me feel like it’s small.

How do you feel the DJ 41 fits you? I'd stick with the DD40 personally.

I do think the 36 works. But I think I like the 40 better. Of course the issue is can get a pre owned 36 for much cheaper than a 40.

I went with the 40, but miss the 36 that I used to have (sold it to fund the 40). I’m content, but if I could do it all over again, I would have kept the 36. Both look great on you.

Really? Why is that ? Always thought it would be opposite.

I thought the same as you when I bought the 40. However, there is something just so classic about the 36. I feel that the proportions are better, with better bracelet flow onto the watch on my wrist. I even looked into selling the 40 to get back into the 36, but I got lowballed so hard that I’m just going to stay put for now and let things settle out. Like I said, I’m content with what I have. YMMV

What config do you have? I honestly got a pretty legit offer on my YG Champagne Baguette DD40

36. It’s the classic size. I love the DD40 it has great proportions and is an awesome watch but I always go back to wearing my 36. Just something about it to me it has much more character than the modern 40mm (which are actually something like 39.2mm)

everyone has their own taste, but I think that 36 looks amazing on your wrist and the 40 over powers your wrist.

The 36 is almost always the winner on aesthetics alone, but the 40 looks more modern and I totally understand the allure
