YM blue vs Datejust 41 blue

To those in the know, does the YM and DJ41 share the same blue sunburst dial or is one darker than the other?

They are different. The DJ41 has a “steelier” blue. Both beautiful in their own right!

Always wondered this too, it’s very likely the same color, just like the rhodium dial too is most likely the same as well.

I've owned both at the same time at one point and my memory says that the DJ is a little darker.

So I have both, and I always thought they were different shades of blue, with the DJ being a more "steely" version while the YM having a "cobalt" touch to it.

However, in the sunlight, they both look the same. Under indoor warm lighting, the look the same. In plain white indoor lighting, the YM looks a bit darker, but I'm not sure whether that's due to a different hue or because it's dial is smaller compared to the expansive dial of the DJ. I'll post some pics when I can.

Pics as promised. These were taken in a variety of light conditions: indoors, bright sunny day outdoors, under cool white LED light, and a warm LED light similiar to the spotlights you see in ADs.

Honestly, even though I said the DJ has a more steely blue and the YM a more cobalt blue, I think this is my memory playing tricks. Looking at the pics, there may be a very tiny minute difference but I wouldn't say they are different colours, even though in the beginning I was convinced they were different shades of blue. It may even be a manufacturing variance rather than an outright different shade of blue.

As pics above show I think they are more or less the same shade, I felt the YM's blue was a bit deeper.

Quite similar blue but the red accents on the YM could have tricked our eyes to an extent.

Tough decision. I do like the splash of red on the YM...but the DJ is timeless and versatile.

Thanks for the effort to provide photos in varied lighting. White looks sharp on the DJ!
