Been debating this for a while.. opinions appreciated!

Been thinking of swapping my 15400 blue dial RO into a DD40. Preferably the WG olive dial or YG silver. I owned the RG olive before and while it was an absolute beauty to look at, I feel it didn't match my skin tone as well and frankly did not wear it as often as I normally would.

Money wise they are all close in value in the grey market so I have no problem "upgrading" or whatever.

I personally feel the WG olive would fare better for normal day-to-day activities but in 2024 I don't know if all this really matters even if I did the same with YG silver.

Any opinions/thoughts on the matter or if I should even do this trade is appreciated.

For what it's worth I do love the RO but I have been craving a PM watch lately and the DD40 is the one I chose.

I think it’s a logical trade as they both fill the same niche in a lot of ways. I’ve had all of these watches and can’t necessarily put one above the other. If you can carry the YG confidently it’s hard to deny the beauty of the DD40 but seeing as you were unsure of wearing the RG last time I’d be sure you want a piece that’s even louder on the wrist.

Both are amazing pieces, you can’t go wrong.

If this is a daily wearer, I think you should stick with the AP RO, it is the way to go and very versatile. The gold one is an amazing piece, however, do you see yourself wearing it daily and in all settings?

Every time I see the Gold watch, I keep getting the itch of wanting to acquire it but then I keep realizing it’s not a daily for me. So it will just sit there accumulating dust until I find the right occasion to wear it.

Wishing the best in whatever you decide.

If I had a blue dial 15400, I'd never part with it. Just this guy's two eurocents.

Sounds like a good move to me. If the RG didn't stick I'd go with the WG.

Trade a steel RO for a Daydate? I would definitely do that trade!

I would do it and never look back. I like all of the DD watches it is just a matter of what works best for you. WG with the green dial covers a lot of ground and to me does not have a huge bling factor. Good luck and let us know what you decide.

i put ROs on the same level as DDs so it's a good trade in that sense. just know that a YG DD is a different level of bling. i can easily daily a RO but i just can't daily a DD anymore, for some reason it makes me too self conscious these days

I also have a blue 15400. Compared to my other watches it is too delicate, keeps poor time, and has been to the service center too often (sometimes for a 2nd crack at fixing an issue that remains after it’s returned). And I would NEVER trade it for a day date. It is a truly special piece. Is there some other way you can put together the funds for the DD?

The WG olive you're contemplating is such a lovely piece, but I don't know if you're going to get the bang for your buck with that trade.

I'm thinking this is an add and not trade situation. Not to say in the long run you get rid of whatever you're not loving and/or wearing, but I don't believe I would let the AP go at this point. My two cents...

The wg olive dd40 is such an awesome daily piece. I love the blue 15400 but i find the wg dd40 a more ‘lowkey’ daily option and fits nicer on my wrist at 40mm vs 41 on the RO.

I have the YG DD silver dial. It’s a keeper, but it is not a daily for me. If you are looking for a daily, the WG DD may be a better fit.

Yes; the Everose Olive DD40 is spectacular; top of my wish list.

I also had RG olive and absolutely adore the watch....but not on my wrist.

Yellow works better for me and now that I'm of an age I'm ok wearing an "old mans watch" I went for yg black myself for when I'm fine having full colored gold on my wrist (I'm usually a more subtle steel guy).

AP bracelet is awesome but for me I am more comfortable in the DD and not so concerned marking it up. Prob just in my head, but that's how I feel about any Rolex.

Black, silver or white dial for me if we’re talking every day.

I had the yellow gold with silver Roman’s before and it was a bit loud to me and at the time it was better for me to move on and free up money.

I missed having a DD40 and a few years ago went with the rose olive and it’s still too loud for me to wear daily, but I love it so much.

White gold olive would make a great daily.

Thanks for everyone's opinions. The RO nor would this DD be my daily. I do not wear these watches to my day job as I feel it would look a bit "too much."

However, I would wear this watch to any time I go out.. whether I'm going out for dinner with my wife or going out with my buddies and simply just enjoying it at home. Sleeping on it again made me realize.. maybe I can just go YG or RG and not worry about what others think of it. I came across an old wrist shot I had of my old RG olive and I am enamored again by it and thinking maybe it did look fine on my skin tone? Haha this is a difficult decision indeed..

RG Olive is a classic and I'm very certain it suits your skin tone. Personally, I don't think it's picky with skin tones.

Finding the right match for your skin tone is key. The WG olive for daily wear seems practical, but you're right, in 2024, style rules are more flexible. If you're drawn to the PM watch vibe, the DD40 could be a great choice for you! It's cool to mix things up in your collection. Trust your gut on this one!

Now I'm having a tough time deciding between RG olive and WG olive! I've knocked the YG out the choices and put RG back in LOL.

WG olive makes a better daily wearer. I actually like it better, too. It’s classier.

Can recommend. Prefer Day Dates to Royal Oaks on the wrist, have both.

I know a few people who rock a yellow gold DD as their daily. I prefer the YG , but the white gold is beautiful as well. Fair trade IMO.

Both are great timepieces, no wrong choice.

If money is no object, I would rather add D-D to the collection.
