Difference Between 116201 and 126201?

Hi all, I’ve had my eye on a 126201 for a long time now. There is a 116201 for sale at a local shop here for a great price. I’m trying to figure out what the difference between the two models is. I’m assuming the 126201 has some improvements — my guess is an upgraded movement and maybe more? Does anyone happen to know for sure what the differences are? Also, does anyone happen to know when the 116201 was in production? From what I can surmise it was mid 2000s to 2019, but just wanted to see if that was correct. Thanks for any help!

The main difference, apart from the optics, is the caliber: 3135 vs. 3235, with about 48 h vs. 70 h of power reserve. Buy the watch you like best. If you don't like the look, the rest doesn't matter.

If you don't already know what the difference is (because you aren't in the Rolex watch enthusiast group and follow everything down to every fine detail, for example), then the 116201 should be fine IMO. The extra reserve to me isn't a big deal... if I could save a bunch of money and get the same exact watch for thousands less and be happy... that's where I'd go.

This is really helpful. Thank you!

That’s exactly what I’m thinking. I spent last night reading about the differences between the 3135 and the 3235 and 3235 is obviously a much more efficient movement. The biggest noticeable different I would see would be the power reserve, but I have my watches on winders anyway, so that’s not a big deal for me. I think the fact that the 116201 with the exact dial I want at such a great price and that I can have in my wrist immediately is winning this battle. Thanks so much for your input!

I would get the older ref assuming small changes in looks don’t bother you but the 31 is a dependable and relatively easy to service movement. And save $$$
