LV Sub vs Sub

There are some people that have the LV Sub and there are some that have the normal Sub. I'm just wondering what persuaded you to own the Sub that you do. I have the normal Sub but have been wanting an LV recently.

Hi
I own the LV and I also want the normal (black). I think the black one is the most classic.

I think there are a lot of people who own both the normal, LV and maybe even TT or full-gold Subs. I'm guessing the reason would be that Sub is probably Rolex's most recognised watch (most iconic perhaps?) while the LV's green bezel/maxi dial combo makes it an even more striking watch.

(I own the TT Blue Sub and the LV, both purchased many years after I bought the Sea-Dweller, which looks like the normal Sub).

"The Submariner 16610 LV, or Lunette Verde was issued in 2004 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Rolex Submariner, arguably the greatest diver watch ever created, and certainly the most famous. While initially thought to be a limited edition model, the LV Submariner has remained in production since its introduction. There are only cosmetic differences between the LV Submariner, and the regular black bezel counterpart - the bezel color, markers, and hands are the only difference. The LV Submariner uses the Rolex Maxi Dial large size hands and markers, first introduced on the Yacht-Master."

I kept the above quoted paragraph when I bought my Sub 16610LV in 2005. It is a great watch to wear daily, just like my regular Sub but sold it to my brother-in-law in December 2006 when he showed much interest in it. I really wish I had kept it, but would not be able to immediately acquire the Daytona I really wanted in 2007.

I think the LV on a black bezel is the best looking Sub (really like the fat hour hand and maxi dial).

If anything, I'll try to find myself a Green bezel and swap it out on my Sub. Just to see how it looks. I think its something different.

I went for the classic sub just before Christmas. The LV is very nice, but the classic floated my boat.
Two months later i still stare at it,each day and admire its perfection.
I had a 14060M before that, beautiful watch but i needed the date function.
Try a few on.
Have fun

The LV has always reminded of the vintage markers of the past.

Compared with a lumi 1680.

Can we narrow it down to a non-Sub owner?

When I was looking for a Rolex I knew I wanted a sub but had the dilemma of which model. I went for the LV in the end because I preferred the maxi dial and I loved the green bezel.

Now I have the LV I can't keep my mind off getting a non date or classic black. I guess that's just the Rolex fever that exist on this site!

I guess I also have the disease then. Since I have a classic Sub Date and now I want a LV Sub.

LV + Black Bezel is an excellent choice for someone who wants the classic look from a brand new watch. I personally would get that combo new or go with a 5513 model. 14060m also is on my want list :).

The main reason was that I preferred the look having had both next to each other. For me it was the maxi dial that probably made the difference rather than the bezel colour. I could have lived with either/both, however, on that day I went LV.

When I first saw the LV I fell in love. When the time came that I could actually afford one I looked at both the LV and the standard Sub and thought the green bezel was unique and stood out. You could say it smiled at me more than the standard sub and I also liked the fact that it is an anniversary edition, so I bought it.

I then joined the forum and learned all the differences between the two and appreciated my purchase more and more. I love the maxi dial and the fatter minute hand. Also no offense to anyone but I think the black bezel is dull. If you look closely at the LV bezel it has a metallic to it that really stands out in sunlight. It's been almost a year and I still can't stop staring at it.

My opinion would be that LV is a weeny little bit more exclusive than the classic black with the added bonus of being able to "dress it down" with a black bezel insert... I just think that is so cool
